Yesterday I introduced the use of adverts on this website. The same adverts have been in use on our sister site http://animeotk.com for the past year with little to no problems.
Firstly I will explain why they are necessary. To run Yaoi Ai, Anime OTK and all the sister sites is currently costing me about $250 a month. This is a figure I can no longer afford from my own wallet. The adverts on AnimeOTK bring in roughly $75-$100 a month, this leaves a $150 shortfall which up until now I have been mostly paying from my own pocket. To date I have spent close to $10,000 of my own money to keep these sites alive. Due to the worlds economy and the weakening british pound I can seriously no longer afford this. That is where the adverts come in. I am hoping that adverts here will bring in up to $50 a month (based on traffic) and that I will not need to add more obtrusive adverts in the future.
Who sees them?
Guests, Unregistered users and users who are not logged in, users awaiting email confirmation and probationary users will see these adverts. A "Probationary User" is a user who has either been registered less than a week or has only 1 or 2 posts. The adverts will display randomly on one out of every five page loads. The simplest way to avoid seeing them is to make a few posts and wait a week after you register  Please note that spam and junk posts will be removed and the users post count will be adjusted accordingly. In the future there is a chance I will increase this post limit to perhaps 10 or more posts but users will not be downgraded if I do.
The bottom line:
Do not complain about the adverts, they will not be removed. If you do not want to participate and do not want to see them you will be required to donate. For more information on donating please feel free to private message me. Since only non-participating members will see them and it's not hard to make a couple of posts I'm afraid I have little sympathy with those likely to complain.

Server Reinstall Completed |

The server has now been reinstalled, altho not all things went to plan..
Basically instead of the agreed "host would restore sites" l ended up doing it and allot of other things, however we are now back online again and things are looking reasonable, there is still allot of work to do however the most important parts are completed.

This is just a notice to users to let you know that after much discussion between Ai and myself have decided to reinstall the servers operating system.
What this will entail is around 6/8hours of work by our hosts to first completely reinstall the server setting it up to our specifications and needs and also restoring the data. we will be taking our own backups however things should not change.
As of yet the reinstall hasnt been given the go ahead as we require some time to do our backups, however we will inform everyone soon so everybody knows when its due to happen.
On a side note users whochat on our IRC network and connect using IRC clients should still be able to connect when maintenance is in progressby using the following IP 67.201.44.194 instead ofirc.animeai.com or irc.animeotk.com in their cliets, same ports will apply.
