At the same time, a consumer who plans to use photo editing software at a future date is more likely to pick the more complex, sophisticated product, and then when the time comes to actually use it, he wishes he had selected an easier-to-use version. </p> <p> &quot;Consumers prefer high-functionality in the long term and convenient products in the short term,&quot; Lee says. To help consumers avoid experiencing buyer's remorse, she suggests taking time to stop and really consider the value of the product, including the benefits in the short and long term. If left to their own devices, consumers tend to focus more on the near-term payoff. </p> <p> She also suggests that people pay more attention to price.The study found that activating the part of the brain that considers money by having people count out a stack of bills helped encourage them to then select products that offered greater functionality. </p> <p> [Read: How to Start Saving More Now .] </p> <p> On that same note, companies can help customers avoid making purchases they come to regret by reminding them about the price, even after the purchase. A gym might want to remind clients how much they paid for their membership on a weekly or monthly basis, Lee suggests, because that will encourage them to take advantage of the membership by visiting the gym to work out, which will reduce the chance of buyer's remorse. &quot;Any kind of membership-based retailer could use that to increase long-term satisfaction,&quot; Lee says. </p> <p> Those tips might not help Griffin, though, because high-end products like Gucci bags don't really come with a convenience versus functionality trade-off. Yet Griffin has drawn her own lessons from the experience. &quot;If I hadn't bought the bag, I would have felt like I was missing out,&quot; she says. But since she made the purchase, she knows it didn't give her the pleasure she had anticipated. Even the purchase itself at the Gucci store was relatively banal; she was expecting more of a &quot;princess, red carpet&quot; treatment. Cleaning the bag or replacing a strap would cost a couple hundred dollars, she notes. </p> <p> Despite her disappointment, Griffin says she might buy a Gucci handbag again one day -- if she's also ready to upgrade the rest of her lifestyle so the bag blends right in. &quot;If I became a vice president or had several promotions, and I get to the point where I'm making enough money to live that type of luxurious lifestyle, then potentially, I might buy another one. A second sand-blasting treatment is then applied, which adheres to all the surfaces not covered by the transfer. The result is the pattern, which has the appearance of a shadow, that seems to be flush with the dial. The watch is powered by the automatic Caliber PF701. The 39mm 18k rose gold case set with 28 round diamonds along the bezel.</p>

<p> Ballon Blanc de Cartier This jewelry watch has a mother-of-pearl flinqu&eacute; (hand-engraved) dial and blue-steel, sword-shaped hands. A single round diamond at 4 o’clock stands out among other smaller round diamonds that encircle the bezel. The 24 mm 18k pink gold case is finished with a bracelet consisting of five rows of smooth 18k pink gold beads.</p>
<p> Richard Mille Tourbillon Natalie Portman I’ve already written about Richard Mille’s declaration that 2014 is the “ Year of the Woman ,� in which the man and the brand created a collection of ladies watches. This particular timepiece is created in partnership with Oscar award-winning actress Natalie Portman , who is also a worldwide partner of the brand. The aesthetic focus of this watch is a diamond-encrusted stylized spider that appears trapped in a tonneau-shaped, diamond-covered case. The abdomen of the spider supports the bridges of the tourbillon (made of grade 5 titanium), and its legs support the two winding barrels.&nbsp;The RM19-01 manual winding tourbillon caliber is assembled around a black rhodium-plated, 18k white gold black sapphire set baseplate, a first for Richard Mille.&nbsp;It is available in a limited edition of 20 pieces. It will be worn by the actress at events worldwide.</p>
<p> Ralph Lauren Stirrup The stirrup name refers to the shape of the case. This year the designer came up with two new medium-sized editions of the watch line—in steel and the one pictured in 18k gold with the case and chain-link bracelet covered in more than 1,900 diamonds in 20 different sizes. It is powered by the caliber RL057 quartz movement.</p>
<p> Lady Arpels Zodiac Taurus Extraordinary Dial This is one of a collection of watches that replicate the Western Zodiac signs created by Van Cleef &amp; Arpels, the only brand that has made everyone of my stories for SIHH 2014. I could have easily chosen any of the 12 watches in this collection.</p>
<p>The colorful dial depicts a white gold and diamond pav&eacute; Taurus the Bull on top of translucent enamel in the shape of leaves with blue flowers made of lapis lazuli with white-gold stars with a small diamond in the center of each. The 38mm white gold case has a bezel set with round diamonds. It has a hand-wound mechanical movement and is available in a limited edition of 22 pieces.</p>
