Well... I don't have any gay friends, too. Just a bisexual girl^__^.
But actually that's my "fault". I'm not a huge 'party' friend and I dislike alcohol, because I just don't like the taste of beer and so ... Well... well...

1) different foods; not much difference with europe or america, you can buy everything you want in a shop and cook it at home
2) in my city its quite okay, +25 in summer and -20 in winter
3) there's no gay discrimination at least in cities
4) spies are everywhere, in every country, i just dont give a shit)
5) vodka, caviar, bears, balalaika and so on are just stereotypes. you shouldn't think like that.
6) rape is popular worldwide =D
actually crime rate is quite small

ugh, it's so sad that many americans i've used to chat had similar view on russia =\
