Cale smiled at him a little bit. He knew that Lorien was going to make a great parent. He cooed and kissed him again and he looked down at the egg. They were going to be a family. All of them were. It made him very happy and excited at this. Cooing he held his mate close to him feeling like the luckiest harpy in the world to find such a wonderful person. And he could imagine it all now. The little one would love Lorien, he could see the two of them happy and healthy. Looking at the other he nuzzled and cooed once more "I love you."

-about a week later-

Cale cooed feeling very excited as he laid by the egg. Any moment now it would hatch and the little one he, and now Lorien, had worked so hard to keep warm and safe. He could hardly leave it for a moment because he was so excited. The harpy was constantly checking up on it to see if it was okay or if there were any signs of cracking to show the little one was coming. None so far so he sat waiting with a smile.

Lorien was also excited. The egg would probably hatch any moment now. He watched his mate with a smile, glad to see how happy he was. Cale was such an attentive parent, checking on the egg quite often to see how it was doing. No crack had formed to show that the little one was ready to come out and see the world. However, he was sure that it would happen soon.

He, however, was also quite happy and had been recently. The egg being about to hatch was one reason but the other was that his stomach seemed to have grown just a bit in the week since his heat. He hoped that he wasn't just imagining things but his instincts told him that he wasn't. He faintly wondered if Cale had noticed. It was only a slight change at this point in time.

"How long has it been for the little one?" he asked, wondering how long the egg had been around.

Cale was checking on the egg once more before he heard the question “I think about 6 months now. It’s a little bit faster than humans. 3 months in the mothers womb to make sure the egg shell is nice and hard for extra protection and then it’s the parents turn to take care of the baby outside of the womb” he said smiling. The harpy smiled and nuzzled him and as he gave him a kiss to his cheek he heard something. Something that sounded like a crack. Looking down he stared at it before a small piece of shell hit his face.

A delighted screech came from him and he pulled Lorien closer to him. He held him and watched it happily. Cale purred and continued to watch as the crack grew and more pieces of shell broke off revealing something moving inside of it. Then suddenly the shell burst open and a little harpy laid there looking scared and confused as it curled up much like a little kitten. It was dark skinned but the little one’s feathers were purple like it’s mother’s. Cooing happily he picked his child up and smiled and the baby stared at him “Hello there darling. My my you certainly look like mamma. Mamma’s boy” he said nuzzling him and he got a giggle.

“Wanna hold him?” Cale asked offering the small harpy towards him.

Lorien watched as the egg began to crack. This was the moment that they had both been waiting for. He was happy and excited. He had heard what the other said about the egg having been around for about six months, including the three months it spent inside the mother's womb. He watched as Cale picked up the adorable little creature and smiled when he was asked if he wanted to hold him.

"I would very much love to hold him, Cale." he replied.

"Do you know what you're going to name him?" he asked after a moment.

The baby cooed and started to nibble on his tiny tail that he brought up. He stared at the human as he was passed over. Little claws on the end of his wing reached for him. Cale thought that was rather adorable before he heard the question about a name. He started to think about it before gently touching his cheek "I like... Kaelin" he said kissing the top of his head. The baby cooed and wiggled a bit in Lorien's arms. He wanted to explore about in his new world. The older harpy chuckled as he cleaned up from the egg "Curious little one isn't he?~"

"Kaelin?" he asked, smiling.

"I like it." he added, gently hugging the little one close to him.

He noticed how the little one wiggled and seemed to want to explore.

"Is it safe to put him down?" he asked.

"Human babies are helpless when born. Is it the same for young Harpies?" he asked.

Lorien was just learning about baby Harpies so he would rely on Cale's knowledge until he knew enough to manage.

Cale finished picked up before he heard what he said. He nodded his head "He can't really walk but he'll try to wiggle about. Just stay close to him and help him out if he needs it. A big new world out here rather then that tiny egg. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets into a bit of mischief up here" he said smiling "Shall I get us something to eat? Fish for us and milk for the little one. I imagine he'll be hungry fairly soon" he said tickling his little tummy which got a happy squeal from him.

Lorien smiled and nodded.

"I am rather hungry but how will you get milk for the little one?" he asked.

That couldn't be easy to get. The only thing he could think of was from a Human's house but it was dangerous for Cale to get too close to them. Stealing, even if it were only milk, would get him in trouble. He could then be hunted and they would all be killed if they were caught.

"Nearby there is a huge ranch filled with cows. Now one would be able to spot me getting cows milk. Neither one of us can exactly feed him at the moment so it's the best I can think of for him at the moment" he said moving towards the back of the cave and getting a jar "I won't be gone long and even if someone tries to come after me I'll be too high in the air. I promise I won't get myself hurt and leave you two all alone" he said kissing both of their foreheads.

He nodded.

"Okay. Just be careful, Cale." said Lorien.

He placed Kaelin down gently so that the hatchling could wander around as best as he could. Lorien had to be careful to make sure that the young Harpy didn't get too close to the edge of the cliff. The little one really was extremely cute and Lorien would treat him like he was his own child.
