Gary laughed and attacked his tacos. "Ah John, don't be so quick at self deprecation. I don't think that's boring at all. Why would I? Sure I'm more of a magazine guy instead of a books guy, but my brother reads a lot and I'm proud of him. Sure I prefer drinking at the bar, but hanging out at home drinking with buddies is a whole lot of fun. You already know I love animals, and I like your kittens. And sure I prefer some old school rock while surfing the net, but taking long walks with an MP3 player is pretty cool too."
He handed a couple of tasty tacos to John. "Try these, they're crispy and the pork is yummy." |
John smiled, finishing his bread while listenting to Gary. He shook his head with a chuckle.
"You are good in comforting. But well ok. Will accept for the moment that you're right and I'm not so boring." He looked at the tacos and took one of them. "They are really good. Pita bread was good too. Time to check out kebab." He smiled after first bite, nodding his approval. "So.. What do you like in people? Do you accept all just like that as the outgoing man you are or you too have some restrictions?" |
(I'm Indian, so I know kebabs and bhel puri very well XD)
"Hmmm," Gary was thoughtful. "I'll try the mutton seekh kebab. Oh, you wanna know what kinda people I avoid? Hard to say really....I make it a point to be civil to everyone until and unless they do something unacceptable. I try not to be judgemental. How's the kebab?" He took a sip of his milkshake. "John, what kinda books do you read?" |
(Oho? So you're a pretty girl with dark skin and black hair? I like the image xD I never ate bhe; puri but it looks really tasty)
When Gary asked how did he like his kebab he gave him a thumbs up. Sipping his cola he smiled and looked out the window. "Well.. I enjoy all kinds. Everything that picks my interest. Sf, fantasy, novels, historical... Everything. But mostly the first two. And it's the same with music. I enjoy mostly rock and metal but I listen to everything. And you?" |
(I'm not dark skinned at all, I'm very fair skinned for an Indian. Having said that, I hate fairness cream endorsements. My hair is dark brown and I love street food. Are you male or female?)
Gary smiled to himself for a while as he sipped his shake from one side of his mouth. "My high school sweetheart was a bookworm, at the top of her class. Anyway sorry for getting distracted. I listen to old school music, be it country or rock or pop. Not much of a reader unfortunately, not proud of that fact. I like playing computer games occasionally." He handed John the shake. "Try this, it's refreshing. You sure you aren't getting bored with me?" |
(Ah.. Missed :P I'm a male :])
"I have my shake. Thank you. And yes I'm sure I'm not bored. Maybe you want some titles of books that won't get you bored? And of you like playing games maybe you want to grab some beer after this and go to my apartment to play console?" It startled him how outgoing he was right now. And blunt. He liked himself more like that and Gary was the one that made him act like that. Even if he was out of reach as a love target John decided that they should be friends. He had a good influence on him so if Gary would be willing it would be a step to change himself. |
Gary smiled, finishing off his meal. "That was delicious, I'm definitely coming back here again."
He looked up in surprise as John invited him to drink and play video games at his apartment. Hadn't the guy said he wanted to have an uneventful evening by himself? "Sure I'd like that. You'd just have to guide me a little, I'm out of touch with modern video games. And if you're willing to lend me something to read I'm willing to give it a try. We'd have a blast doing that stuff together." He fished out his wallet and left a tip on the table. |
John just nodded his head as he wasn't sure if he would be back here after what happened today but didn't want to lie. Gary seemed surprised with his invitation and he was about to tell him it's okay if he has another plans for today but just then he said he would like to go. Nodding his head he just stood up and went after Gary, taking his shake and cola with him.
"Don't you want to take a number from that woman? She seemed to really like you and looked like a nice person..", he said, sipping his milkshake. |
Gary stopped and turned around to look at the serving counter on John's suggestion. The woman noticed him looking and waved to him happily. He raised his hand in a two finger salute and grinned.
"Hope you liked the food!" "It was excellent! Especially the kebabs!" "Hope to see you back again!" "Sure as rain!" he turned back to John and smiled. "There, I guess I'll be back here again so no need for anyone's number. In any case, I'm not really looking to date anyone really, at the moment." He led them to his car. "Let's head over to your place." |
John looked at that interaction and sighed when Gary said he is not looking to date anyone. Was he good on his own or did he have someone that he was interested in? Whatever. It wasn't his business.
"Yes. Let's. Two steps from my block is convenience store so we will have to go there to buy some beers and snacks", he told Gary after he started the engine. |
