Gary smiled, oblivious of John's thoughts. He started the engine and drove the car, driving up to the convenience store. "You wait here, I'll go run in and get the stuff we need." He'd forgotten that he still kept a picture of his high school sweetheart Tomoe in his glove compartment.

"No. Go park your car and I buy 'the stuff'. I invited you so I'm buying", said John and before Gary would have a chance to protest got out from the car.
Entering the convenience store he saw there was this handsome cashier and always was very fun and still polite in every talk he started with John. After few moments he had basket full of beers and snacks so he went to pay for them. "Hello. I see that tonight is the night to have a party?" "No. Just invited friend from work to play some games..", said John with a little smile. "So you like playing games?", asked the man. "Me too. But lately I returned to older ones like Diablo 2 or Baldurs Gate. You know, classics are always the best.." With that simple sentence they started another of their conversations. Gary sat in the car after parking, fiddling with his cell phone to check for work related messages. He was generally not one to hurry people, since he himself wasn't exactly very punctual all the time, but he did wonder what John was buying for 10 minutes. Surely he wasn't getting a feast to cook for dinner? Gary got out of the car, locked it and strolled into the convenience store, wondering if he could help John carry the stuff he'd bought.
He then caught sight of his cute young friend chatting excitedly with the cashier. Gary couldn't help but smile, he was glad to see the younger man look happy after his bad luck today. What were they discussing? Computer games, it seemed. He caught the cashier's eye and gave a friendly wave. "Hate to interrupt! But I too am looking forward to playing these!" |
John looked at Gary and stood still for few seconds, blinking only once. Then he slapped his forehead, blushing at that.
"Oh God! I'm so sorry.. I forgot.. I.." "Ah. Hello. Sorry, it's my fault for keeping him here..", said the cashier. "No it's not your fault, .." "My name is Nick. See you another day and have a nice gaming party. Here are your bags and bill is inside..", and looking at Gary he added. "Once more I'm sorry mister. Have a nice evening." |
"No sweat!" called Gary, waiting for John to catch up with him as they walked outside to the car, "So," he said with a casual grin, "Got Nick's number?"

John blushed and and almost tripped over his own foot.
"I-It's not like that.. he surely i-isn't.. I mean.." He was really embarrassed and Gary could see that. Also he didn't ever think of their conversations like that.. Sure he was a nice young man, both in character and looks but.. |
"No sweat," Gary replied with s smile as he started the engine, "what did you buy?"

"Ten beers, two packs of cookies, three of chips and wasabi peanuts... ah! and chocolate. And if we would be hungry for something more two boxes of sushi..", answered John, looking in the begs if he didn't overlook anything.

Gary gave a low whistle as he started driving. "That's a lot" John. And tasty stuff too, I love sushi and wasabi peanuts. I'm definitely skipping dinner tonight."
They drove up to John's house. (you'll have yo guide me with videogames 'coz I know nothing) |
