As Dritz's grandmother excused herself, Azrael sighed and leaned against a nearby wall, drinking and eating a little as he did. It was a long day, and it was nice to relax and eat a bit as well as drink. Looking at where the dancing and ribbons were taking place, Azrael thought about it for a moment and smiled. "I'm not sure if I'm much of a dancer..." he muttered befre then looking at Dritz and keeping quiet for a pretty long time.
It wasn't until he finished drinking his beer that he answered his question. "Business. I had to attend to it...many people sin, and those who do shall be judged." Azrael looked into his friends eyes and then continued. "But I'm here now...that's what matters." He mumbled while moving his wings a bit, trying to keep his white feathers from brushing against the wall so they wouldn't get dirty. |
Dritz just looked at his friends eyes and looked away to look at the dancers. "Sin is a normal thing among mortals and creatures. Who really gives the right to others to be judge and executioner?"
Even though he understands his friends job, it still bothered him. Granted he wasn't one to judge, but there had to be a better way. Unless of course the crimes and sins were so heinous that it needed..."divine" intervention. |
The topic wasn't a new one, Azrael knew all too well that Dritz didn't like what he did, but it had to be done sometimes, to the worst of people. "I'm not the one who judges in the end...I'm only the one that sends that person to be judged. Although I respect, and understand your thoughts Dritz."
Sighing once more, Azrael looked at the others, smiling and dancing, not having a care in the world it seemed. "Let us talk about this at a later time. It's best not to ruin the moment." Azrael said while looking back at Dritz. |
"Understood," nodded Dritz as he sat up with his empty plate and glass to take to the house his grandmother walked into. "Afraid to get your wings dirty?" He chuckled as he disappeared from view for a few moments to help with some of the dishes.
Emerging from the small home, he wiped his hands on his pants and leaned near the door way. "Are you done with your business for the rest of the day or will you be getting a midnight messenger?" Dritz whispered over to Azrael so he knew how much "fun" he could have tonight. |
Shifting a little more, Azrael watched as Dritz went to the house, staying in place although not without scoffing at his friends words. "Just don't want to wash them later." He said while smirking, opening his wings up a little in order to brush them off, making sure no blood, dirt or anything else got onto them.
Noticing Dritz emerge from the house again, Azrael looked at him, focusing on the males body and then shrugging while taking a little look around. "No business tonight...just came here, planning on sticking with you." Azrael said while leaning off of the wall and cocking his head to the side. "Why? Have plans in mind?" he wondered. |
"Not really. Just wanted to drink a pint or two is all," replied Dritz as he pushed himself off the wall and walked over to a wooden barrel where one of the men were pouring beers.
After a brief exchange and some chuckles, he got his pint as he took a sip and sighed. Dritz continued to talk to the man as he asked him the secrets to his beer while the owner just made the gesture that his lips were sealed shut. Chuckling again, Dritz walked back with a full pint again and walked over to Azrael. "I swear the man uses magic in his beers." |
Azrael was going to speak, but instead he kept quiet and watched as Dritz walked to the man and got a beer, but not without talking to him. Not being able to hear what hey were talking about, Azrael simply eyed his friend, putting his empty glass down and sighing, waiting impatiently for him to return.
When he did, Azrael noticed the beer and cocked an eyebrow. "And you didn't get me one?....I'm hurt Dritz." The angel said with a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. "How've you been recently anyways?" he wondered, debating if he should get himself another beer as well. |
"You got two feet and wings so you can get it yourself," he snorted as he took a sip. "And the usual really. I help out the locals, make sure the property lines are safe, and do whatever else I guess. Nothing really exciting."
The wind blew gently on the ground as it tussled the leaves up into the air and made the grass dance. The trees swayed to it's own music as the sun was slowly setting and people were coming out with lanterns and torches to keep the grounds bright. |
Scowling at his friends words, Azrael sighed aloud and shook his head. "Fine." He muttered, walking slowly towards the male Dritz was previously talking to, but not without listening to him talk instead. "Good. Troublesome situations are just a hassle to deal with."
Azrael stood before the man, crossing his arms over his chest and asking for a beer. He didn't really speak, even as the friendly man said a few words, Azrael simply nodded in reply, said one or two things, and took the beer only to return to Dritz seconds later. The angels violet eyes admired the scenery, it wasn't everyday he got to see all the lights, music, happiness and dancing while the weather matched. It was a beautiful day...too bad Azrael couldn't see it through the eyes of most. Taking a sip of the beer, he looked at it for a few seconds and looked rather surprised. "Shit...this can't be normal beer." Azrael chuckled. "It's too delicious." |
Nudging his friend, Dritz gave him a smile that flashed his teeth. "See! I told you! He only makes small batches that comes out for festivals, but he makes good money making and selling other batches to other towns, private vendors, and such."
