It seemed like years passed when they at last were on the place. Looking around warily he was surprised seeing marketplace with few stalls filled with fruits and vegetables, two or three people and the same number of selling, older people. And it wasn't really loud. Actually it was so calm in here that it made Akira relax a bit at last. Then he focused on all of the fruits and vegetables he saw and realised that he wasn't able to put a name on most of them. Looking at the celery he wondered what it could be and what was it used for.

Getting to the market, Sangre looked at Akira and smiled a little bit as he and Harumi walked to a few of the rows of fruits and vegetables first. As he saw the celery, Sangre looked back at the young man and spoke to him about it. "Celery is a odd veggie. It's almost entirely water, and has no real taste, but it's good for stock and soups, sometimes its good to eat with a ranch dipping sauce too." Sangre said, the people around them speaking rather calmly, in fact Sangre was comforted by the soft hum of voices, and aroma of freshly baked food up front where the bakers were.

Akira was surprised when he was given answer not even needing ask a question. 'What is a ranch dipping sauce? I mean i know it sauce but..' He was really curious. Cooking was such a complex thing and there was so many kinds.. It was like magic. And Sangre could do it all.. It really was imprressing Akira every time he was able to see how much the redhead knew and how much he was able to do. And how good he was at that.

Looking back at Akira, Sangre put the vegetable down and furrowed his eyebrows as he began to explain to him. "Ranch dressing is a type of salad dressing made of some combination of buttermilk, salt, garlic, onion, herbs, and spices, mixed into a sauce. Usually people dip raw vegetables in it, like carrots, celery, or broccoli." Sangre walked over to another section and showed him watermelon.
"Ever have this before? It's really good on a hot day." Sangre smiled, knowing he probably did, but the chef had no idea what he knew, and didn't know about. "If you ever want to try something out, we can buy it and do some experimenting back at home." Sangre offered. Harumi smiled, grabbing herself some strawberries and kiwi, loving fresh fruit salads. "There's a lot of variety." She said with a soft smile on her face. |
Akira felt his mouth watering on the thought of him trying out all that. 'Can we take that home? I would like to try it.. if it's really fine.. I mean.... I don't want to make any troubles..' His green eyes looked at Sangre.. and he had that look on his face of a puppy asking for a treat. Then he looked at what Harumi picked up. 'What is that? Is it tasty? And strawberries.. are they good as well..? Hod do they taste?'

Sangre chuckled and nodded his head, deciding to go over and pick up some Ranch dressing before getting the celery and a few baby carrots. "It's no troubles at all." He said right away, being incapable of ignoring the look on his face.
Harumi showed the kiwi and giggled. "It feels very strange on the outside, but it's nice, very tasty and sweet. Sangre isn't a fan, so I guess it depends on the person. And of course, strawberries are delicious as well. I prefer them a little more. And the watermelon, if it's just right and fully red, it's super sweet and juicy. Sitting outside or being in the pool with that on the side, it's amazing." Harumi smiled gently and picked out a few more oranges for the butterflies, although making sure the food they got was mostly for the people in the castle. Sangre put the things into a basket and walked to another section, showing Akira some of the many different kinds of meats and the cuts they came in, as well as some different fishes. "If there are any meats you would like to try, there are some here too." Sangre said, knowing there were some there that were rather new, like the shrimp, crab, turkey and even rabbit. |
Akira's mind started to spin from all the new information. He tried to remember it but it was hard. Though the shrimp and crab made his most curious. They didn't look like a thing to eat.. yet.. there they were. Though thanks to all those informations he wasn't able to focus on how many people there were. Of course of Sangre or Harumi it would be like the place was almost empty.. though not for Akira. Yet his focus stayed solely at the strange new things to eat he was shown.

Sangre put a few more things into the basket, Harumi was focusing more on the produce and any herbs that might be needed, even some of the seeds for flowers were of interest to her. Although after a few more minutes, Sangre focused on Akira and asked him a question.
"How about we get some ingredients for a cake, or maybe pie?" Sangre smiled, knowing it had been a while since they made a dessert together. |
Akira was fine just following the two and not paid attention to. He just observed all the things, read the signs on the small notes and wondered about the price. How much was that compared to other things? How much people earn? Probably the salaries were different for different people. But how much it was? Then he looked at Sangre when he asked about the cake, his eyes glistening with happiness. 'Can we? The last time it was so, so good..'

Sangre nodded and went over the fruits again. They had enough flour and sugar back at the kitchen, but they needed some kind of fruit. "Of course. Hm…we can make it cherry, strawberry, lemon, lime, orange, coconut…vanilla coconut is pretty good." Sangre said, knowing Akira probably hadn't tried most of those cakes, so it wouldn't be wise to let him choose since he would be overwhelmed with what one to pick.
"Oh, that one is delicious." Harumi grinned as she saw the coconuts and pointed. "That's it right there. But it's easier to get them already opened." She advised, knowing all too well Sangre hurt himself last year opening one, and she wouldn't want that repeated. |
