"Um, I... I'm sorry, but i have to finish bringing the other orders" Blake excused himself, changing the subject. Perhaps, we can talk, later on?"

James nodded, and handed him a card. "My number. Call me." He said, leaving.

Blake thought about stopping him. The man had obviously misunderstood what he was trying to say. The cook wanted him to stay, but soon figured he couldn't very well ask him not to go. He probably had his own problems to deal with. So he show him off, then went on with his business, trying to pretend that everything was alright.

Later that night, James' phone rang. He answered it, and heard the waiter's voice.

After James left the restaurant, Blake took care of his other orders, and the rest of his duties, until Mel's brother got out from school to help him. Then, when it was closing time, he went home, had supper, and thought of getting ready for bed. But just as he was putting his uniform away, he noticed something had fallen from his trouser pockets.
"Now what's this?" Blake wondered, picking it up. It was a card, with a phone number on it, and he suddenly remembered, that James fellow had given it to him. To talk, he said, but what was there to talk about? The man had just broken up with his lover. He must have been confused, hurt, lonely. Probably that's why he needed someone to talk to...
"I'm so gonna hate myself in the morning for this!" Blake sighed, and went over to the phone. He dialed the number, and waited until someone picked up. "H... hello?"

"Hello? Is this that waiter from earlier?"

Blake shuddered at the sound of James's voice. He wanted to hang up. What was he doing, calling a complete stranger, at that late hour? "I... I..."

"Hello? Who is this?"

"I..." Blake was ready to slam the receiver back in its place, when he finally made the decision to see that call through. There was no turning back now.
"Hi... it's me, Blake. You came to our restaurant this morning. I'm sorry to bother you,but I found the card you gave me and..."

"Oh! Great! Would you like to come over for a drink? You know, just to say sorry?"
