"Why old? You are thirty one? Two? It's not even close to being old", said John, finishing his drink. "And 'don't take advantage', huh? Will see about that."
He asked bartender for another one. This evening was interesting with lot's of laughter. Gary had occasion to hear that John's parents died in the car accident when he was twenty, there was the time he got into drugs but was smart enough to stop before anything bad happened. And that he really like drinking when with somebody because then he is able to chill out a bit and not worry about every and each word he says. "That can be a real pain in the ass", he said softly, rubbing his temples. |
Gary listened quietly as John opened up to him about his parents and his experimentation with drugs. He gently patted him on the back.
"Well, at least now your parents get to watch over you, they get to see you drinking a Margarita Sunrise, and they're wondering, 'Since when did our son learn to drink potent stuff like tequila?'" Gary added a dose of gentle humour to help most situations. "It's fun going out drinking with a buddy. I don't really need loosening up, but I do need to unwind. And oh, here comes our pizza!" A large pizza with delicious smelling toppings arrived and was placed in front of them. "Let's dig in," Gary grinned. |
John had his fourth drink so he was quite relaxed. With a speed worth the better cause he took the frist slice.
"Hah. I'm first", he said, grinning for the first time this evening. "Mhm. That's good. You made quite good job on picking the toppings. Maybe we should sit at the table? My back starts to hurt me from those bar chairs." |
"Good idea, let's move to that table right there," Gary pointed to a table in a well lit cozy corner of the room. He picked up the plate of large pizza and they moved to the table.
"Yay, I'm second!" He joked, grabbing the second slice of pizza. "Mmm, must say I have great taste!" |
John snorted and shook his head with a smirk.
"Must say you don't get it what they mean when they say modest, do you?", he joked and kicked Gary under the table, evident sign he was totally relaxed. "You... are.. Now.. don't get scared. I know you are straight and I'm not falling for you or anything.. it's just a simple compliment.... but if you would be bi I would really consider you. You are impossible.." |
Gary laughed at the modesty joke even though his eyes watered a tiny bit from the kick. "Whoa, powerful kick you got there, buddy! You musta been one helluva kicky baby!"
Whenever Gary smiled, the sides of his amber eyes wrinkled adorably. His grin softened to s gentle smile as he heard John's words. He thought for a while and then answered honestly. "Like I've said, the last time I fell in love was with a buddy of mine. So if I were bisexual, I'd definitely consider you too." He ever so gently punched John's shoulder with his left hand. "Buddy." |
"Ah.. Sorry. Didn't want it to hurt.."
He took another slice of pizza and then smiled softly at the punch on the shoulder. "Thanks. Good you are so relaxed saying that. You're quite bold. Guess it helps in contacts with other's right?" |
Gary laughed gently as he reached for another slice of pizza.
"I'm honest, straight forward, and I try my hardest to speak the truth while still not being totally nasty, I suppose. It isn't a strategy, it's who I am," he smiled. He picked up a slice which was particularly cheesy, and held it to John's lips. "Here, go ahead cheesy guy." He was even more funny and pleasant when drunk. |
"You're drunk", chuckled John and took a bite. "And where I was cheesy? Mmm.. that pizza is really good. It was a good idea after all."
|
Gary was on his 3rd drink now and took another bite of pizza.
"You're cheesy...you're sushi...you're wasabi...you're tortellini...you're cakey...you're toasty...you're tequila and rummy..." He picked up an olive and popped it in his mouth. "And I'm drunk." |
