"How old are you, anyway? Just wondering since you are pretty much immortal..", he said simply, smiling a bit at the thought.

"Mm..." Vincent hummed in thought as he wiped off the razor onto another towel before running the blade along Rick's jaw on the other side. "You know, I'm not sure. I heard some vampires kept a tally of the years that go by, but I never felt the need to. Being immortal, I have no need to count the years...to count the days...the hours...every day is just another day. I even lose track of the year because I just go on with my life without worrying about time."

"Hmmm.. It does make sense actually.. What is your first memory? Were there even cars when you were young or was it before?", he asked curiously.

"My first memory..." Vincent said softly as he pulled the blade away to clean it off again as he thought hard of what he remembered as far back as when he was young. Vampires could easily access memories easier than humans, as long as they hang onto them and don't purposely push them out. He started running the blade along Rick's neck slowly. "We didn't have cars. We had horses and carriages. Me and my mother lived on our own, keeping to ourselves in a small town. I remember when she'd go to work as a housemaid for some wealthy folks in the city that was a few miles from where we lived and she'd bring me along. I was in charge of holding the mop bucket and carrying it around as she moved from room to room and I was in charge of cleaning dishes."

"That sounds quite nice.. You still remember your mother well?", asked Rick.
He himself didn't know his parents. The first memory he had was that of the orphanage and him fighting with some older kid. He of course lost then.. but things changed few years later.

"I remember her pretty well. She was an average height, kept herself in shape by eating right and she got exercise just from walking around those huge houses all day. She was a tough mother too. She would sometimes skip on a meal if it meant I got my fill for the day. We lived in a small town, and living in a small town means that when people suddenly go missing or are found down, it is more likely to shake up the community than if it's a big city with more people and deaths pretty much go un-noticed. We couldn't take any risks, she said." Vincent replied softly as he continued to shave Rick's jaw area. "My father was never really around. He sent letters every now and then, but there came a day where the letters stopped coming. My mother never got involved with another man and was more focused on me than other men that came around."

"She had it hard I guess", said Rick in a very neutral tone of voice. "So.. you were born into being a vampire? Nobody changed you? And.. did your mother teach you about rules of being vampire or did you learn by yourself?"

TimetoDuel95 September 28th, 14 01:40 PM

"My mother was a vampire and my father was a human. I was born half of one and half of the other. My mother waited until I was old enough to turn me into a full-blooded vampire and I let her. I never regretted letting her do it. She was the one who taught me the rules of being a vampire, and she let me learn the hard way of what happens when I don't get a meal for a long time and I go out in the sun." Vincent replied softly as he cleaned off the blade. He never told anyone about his mother before, nor did he ever sit down and really think about her. It was her he had to thank for his immortality, and it was her that taught him how to survive.

"Sounds like a good mother. How is it possible she had such a crazy son?", asked Rick bluntly, not being one to stop himself from saying uncomfortable or rude things.

Vincent grinned and couldn't help but chuckle. "I don't know...I guess I sort of forgot how to be a gentleman after she passed away." he said with a grin.
