A Different Beat (For Angel)
 

Darren smiled as his hands worked around his equipment, the beat building through the auditorium, easily twenty thousand people were screaming in joy to be watching him and he'd never felt better, he set up the programs to run the tune to one of his more famous songs and walked away from the setup with a microphone in hand, approaching the fans he began to sing and they all screamed louder. He was a neko and that made him all the more loved, his bright blue hair and tail was natural, a rarity among his species and he'd always had incredible talent with music and he'd quickly rose among the charts to the top of the worlds talent. As he sang a single fan pushed his way through the crowd to get closer, it was a young man who had the appearance of a druggie, no money left after spending it all on memorabilia to Darren and now he planned to make him and Darren legendary, he pulled himself on the stage and smiled, Darren looked at him strangely but his look and singing both stopped when the man pulled a gun out from his clothes and took aim at Darrens heart, the neko stared in terror as he couldn't think of what to do, his body guards were backstage, there was nobody close enough to stop him who'd risk themself, he had the sullen thought go through his mind 'I... don't want to die...'

It all happened in an instant. A man, barely older than the singer himself, grabbed the druggie, causing the shot to go off above the singer. A brief scuffle ensued, and by the time the security arrived, the boy had been lightly injured. He got off the stage, and sat on the ground, getting some cheers from those closest to him, and even a few pats on the back. He nursed his bloodied cheek, just glad he'd saved the singer.

Darren stared in disbelief at what occured, but had ducked at the shot and felt terrified, a bodyguard came to him and pulled him up and quickly examined him "Your fine on the outside, do you want to leave sir?" He asked and Darren shuddered a little but shook his head and pushed himself away from the bodyguard and walked forward up the stage and saw the boy who'd saved him, he hopped down from the stage, moved forward and hugged him "Thank you so much" He said

The boy blushed crimson, and tentatively hugged him back. He was soft... And warm...
"N-No problem..." he said, noticing the fine scent of the neko... Oh God, not now... Don't think like that now...

Darren finally pulled away from the boy and noticed his cheek and said "Your hurt, come with me, I'll get that looked at for you and maybe we could chat a little... I want to thank you... you saved my life"

"Thank you." he said, and stood up, helping Darren up as well.

Darren helped the boy onto the top of the stage and as they walked by he grabbed the microphone that he'd dropped earlier and turned to face the audience "Hey everybody, I'm terribly sorry but I'm cutting the concert short, as redemption, your all invited here tomorrow for a retake though the security is going to but a little tighter, and everyone give a hand to this guy here, he just saved my life!" He said with a wide smiled and the audience erupted into a loud cheer as Darren giggled, his tail flicking side to side

The boy blushed heavily, and gave a polite bow to the crowd. He was always nervous in front of so many...

Darren noticed the boys blush and smiled "Oh and a... there's going to be three free drinks for everyone tomorrow, I'll order in extra, have a good night people" He said and put the mic in the stand and turned off the music, then lead the boy backstage to his room, passing a bodyguard he said "Get one of the ambulance guys to come back here with some stiches, he might need them" He said and the bodyguard nodded and walked away as Darren sat the boy on the couch and sat next to him "Want a drink?"

Darren then said "Hey and I'll made sure everyone gets a free drink on me tomorrow, have a good night, please leave in a orderly fasion and don't hurt anybody, bye guys" into the microphone and lead the boy backstage after turning the music off, he took him into the back and called over a medic from the ambulances that'd arrived "Hey I'm fine but bring something to clean my friend up here" He said to the medic who nodded and went to get his kit, Darren meanwhile sat the boy on a couch "Do you want a drink? I don't have alcohol but any soda is available for you"

The boy nodded, getting a pepsi. He sipped at it, wincing as his cheek was fixed up. Once all the was done, he looked at the singer, blushing cutely.
"Are you sure you're alright?"

Darren giggled and hugged the boy again "I'm great thanks to you, I owe you so much, oh... I don't even know your name yet, where are my manners, I'm Darren of course, you are?"

"My name is Hikari." the boy said, hugging him back.

Darren smiled "Well Hikari, I'm truly honored to meet you and I'd love to thank you any way I can for saving me, name whatever you like and I'll do it, I promise" Darren said grinning, he'd always been energetic and hardly thought about what kind of things he could get himself into before doing them

The boy blinked, and was silent for several moments. Then, he finally opened his mouth.
"Will you... Maybe... Go on a date with me?" he asked sheepishly. Hikari, it turned out, was quite gay.

Darren blushed for a moment, half stunned, but finally erupted into a cute giggle "Oh wow, how lucky I am, I get saved and it turns out the boy who does so is more then just cute but also gay, I'll gladly have a date with you Hikari"

"And... Maybe if it goes well we can... We can be boyfriends?" he asked, his face crimson from embarassment.

Darren sighed and smiled "If you'd like we could just be boyfriends right now and date anyways" He said giggling

"You'd... You'd really be my boyfriend?" he asked, obviously shocked.

Darren giggled "It may not be very mainstream but yes, I'm gay, and of course, I'd be happy to be the boyfriend of someone who risked their life for me"

The boy's heart fluttered, and he tentatively gave the singer a big, but gentle, hug.

Darren giggled and returned the hug, smiling softly as he moved their faces together and kissed him

Hika's eyes widened, as he was shellshocked for a moment. But then, his senses returned, and he kissed him back, softly, tenderly. His lips were very nice to feel...

Darren smiled as his tail snaked it's way around Hikari's body, holding him close as he let his mouth open, letting Hikari control the depth of their first kiss

The boy wasn't sure if he should, but... He slowly let his toungue enter Darren's, rubbing against the singer's own.

Darren let his eyes slowly closed as his own tongue moved against Hikari's, letting it go slowly yet passionately

The boy slowly reached down, and placed a hand right beneath the singer's tail.

Darren blushed softly and pulled Hikari's body against his, turning them both so the boy layed on top of him as they kissed

The boy groaned into his mouth, feeling a bit more... Risky. He slid a hand down the back of Darren's pants, rubbing his cheeks.

Darren giggled softly and finally broke the kiss "Going a little quickly aren't we? don't you want to wait until we're alone before we get a little steamy?" he said with a smile

The boy blushed, and rested his cheek against Darren's.
"Sorry... You're just... Perfect."

Darren smiled and softly nuzzled Hikari "Thanks, I have my hair styled every week and I get the best products on the market, and if your talking about how I act then just wait for the bedroom" He said and chuckled cutely

The boy blushed, realizing his hand was still touching Darren's rump. He quickly removed it from his pants, blushing embarassedly.

Darren giggled and held Hikari close when a woman walked towards them "Darren, tell me just how you intend to pay for all those drinks and the rental of the auditorium, you didn't even begin to think about what this does to the funds" she said scolding him, "Listen Megan, it'll come out of my bank account if it has to, I'm not letting a single monster ruin everyones mood, so just relax, besides, I have a cute little boyfriend now so it's time to rejoyce" He said giggling and she sighed "Whatever Darren, just know that when we have to push every single concert we had planned a day forward people will be mad and you will have some backlash from the fanbase" She said and turned and left, paying no mind to Hikari, "Thanks, my advisor, she's a real peach most of the time but you have to admit, I'm kind of asking for that" he said to Darren giggling

He blinked, and nodded, nuzzling his lover.

Darren giggled "Well, the auditoriums still prepared, why don't we go on that date?" He said kissing the boys forhead

"That sounds nice, Darren..." he said, nuzzling him softly.

Darren giggled "So tell me, do you want to go out somewhere or would you prefer we go somewhere a little more private? mind you if we go out someone most likely will recognise me and it could get a little ugly considering how photographers would be all over us"

"Can we go somewhere private? I don't want to be a hassle..." he said softly, kissing his neko's cheek.

Darren giggled "Your not a hassle, but the media can be, so yes, I'll have a limo take us to my hotel, we can relax there" he said nuzzling him

He nodded, stealing a quick kiss from his boyfriend.
"I'm sure there'll be plenty of heartbroken girls when we finally come out."
