I wasn't sure if anybody has his official site or not, but I finally found it. Here's some links:

Also just some personal thoughts: If you guys love Mentaiko like I do, then I recommend purchasing copies of your favourite doujinshis from there. I've recently read the first 3 parts of "Itai Itai Itai", and I love it. I'm waiting for part 4, and hopefully it'll come out soon. My point is that doujinshi artists aren't as accomplished as manga-ka, so they need the support of their fans. Why purchase a doujinshi I can't read when I have the translation here? That's fine, but a hard copy of it can help further the work of Mentaiko, and continue reading the translations on here.

Also it seems he hasn't finished making Part 4 of "Itai Itai itai". So just be a little more patient I guess :)

Thanks for the info, I just spent some time browsing his site. I don't read Japanese, and Google translate seems to translate everything into Engrish :rolleyes: , but I managed well enough. Good to see a master at work on his own turf.

Thank u for the the links to his site and manga's. I pray that Mentaiko will become even more successful with his works and have another itai itai itai series released soon. I wanna c what happens to Shikou,Narumi,and Taiga so badly. And I hope we can get some more info about Mentaiko himself/herself. I appreciate the help and once again thank u!

Someone who knows more will probably correct me, but I understand "doujinshi" (or "dōjinshi) to mean amateur and derivative works, usually self-published, as opposed to "manga", which are original works done by professionals, and usually published by large publishing houses. A lot of doujinshi takes characters from existing manga, anime, or games, and puts them in a scene or story together. This is usually, though not always, romantic or sexual actions. That's pretty much what I think of myself when I hear the word, but there is more to it than that.

Like the English word "amateur", people often think of doujinshi as being unskillful, juvenile, or just "fan art". This is not always true, but even when it is, the "childish" nature of some doujinshi is part of its charm. But there are artists like Mentaiko whose work is as professional-looking as anything out there, and a real inspiration to us who are "amateurs" in every sense of the word.

There is a great deal of technical jargon in any field of art, and this one is no exception. Not only are a lot of the words taken from Japanese, but very often they don't mean quite the same thing in English as in Japanese. It's a little confusing, but as usual, the best way to learn the meanings of words is to pay attention to how people actually use them.

i heard that mentaiko is not a name, his name is "fuu kai", or "kai" or even "taiko"

I just wanted to update on Mentaiko's health and stuff. As we all know, Japan was affected by a devastating earthquake about a month ago. And on his official site, he said that he was fine, alive and well. Also, he has given an estimate as to when Itai Itai Itai 4 will be coming out. He says it'll most likely be released during the month of May. So be on the lookout! ;D (but remember too that there must also be time for the translation team to do their magic)

P.S. Let's hope for everybody's health and safety in Japan. And help in any way you can. :)

OMG, yes. Mentaiko is the best, especially when they got hero boys in bodysuits. Too unfortunate that it's exclusively Japanese, but google translate shud do the trick.
