Qualifications to be a yaoi pairing?
 

Hello! I've been a member here for awhile, but haven't really participated in the forums, so heres my first thread:


Is there a certain relationship that needs to exist between the characters before you pair them up? Are you one of those people that just likes to pair up two anime characters, as long as they look good together? Do they have to be in the same series?


I'm very picky about these things, all of my yaoi pairings fall under at least one of these categories:

-Best Friends, Comrades, Crewmembers...etc (ex: Luffy/Zoro, Tsuna/Gokudera,Harry/Ron)

-Rivals (ex: Sasuke/Naruto, Ichigo/Renji, Ichigo/Uryuu)

-Enemies (ex:Shizuo/Izaya, Tyki/Allen, Sebastian/William, Malfoy/Harry)

-Teacher/Student (ex:Jiraiya/Naruto,Orochimaru/Sasuke,Snape/Harry)

-Sempai/Kohai

-Master/Servant (ex:Sebastian/Ciel, Alois/Claude)

-Leader/Subordinates

-They have to be in the same manga (No crossovers, unless its a manga in which both stories are made by the same manga-ka and take place in the same universe. Like Durarara!! and Baccano! )

-They have to know each other and had to have spoken on more than one occasion (just being seen together in the same panel or screenshot one time doesn't cut it!)



Theres more, but i'll just write these. So, what are yours, are you as picky as me? Or is yaoi just one big free for all!?

I've never really thought about this until now, but it seems that I have a similar system to what you use.

Yeah, same here. I usually only ship people if there's some kind of evidence backing it up, even if it's just for fun. (I think that's part of the reason I'm not all that into random Org. XIII shipping, since they don't interact a whole lot, with a couple exceptions, of course.)
