Age: Looks about 25ish but is much older then that
Species: Siren/Harpy
Personality/Bio: Cale can get very defensive especially when protecting his egg now that his mate is gone. Most of the time he is rather nice though and understanding. He doesn't like to bother humans much and tends to keep to himself though he has been in a slight depression and worry now that he is alone and it's hard to take care of an egg all by himself.

Cale sat and listened as he brought his egg close. He looked out to the distance hoping…hoping that somehow his mate would come back. It has been several long days he has waited. There was a terrible storm a few days ago and his wife went hunting for food and never returned. Cale has been waiting for days now and no sign of her has been seen. Deep down he knew she wouldn’t return. He looked down at the egg and gently caressed “I’ll be back in a little bit darling” he said softly to the egg.

Cale set down the egg and made sure to put in a nice sunny place to keep it warm as he left. He was hungry and needed something to eat. He had to eat quickly for he couldn’t keep his egg unattended. Cale spread his wings and jumped from his home on a high cliff like place to the river down below. He landed far enough away that he could quickly get back to his egg but far away enough from human interaction.

Cale sighed as he looked at his reflection in the river. He didn’t know how he was going to keep this up. He hadn’t eaten in days with taking care of the egg that held his only child. He needed it to live. Cale looked up to the sky and opened his mouth and started to sing a sad song of his lost love.

Cale continued to sing as he stared at his reflection in the water. He sighed a bit as he continued to sing. He didn't know how much longer he could keep this up. It was wearing him out. He couldn't leave his egg for long and with that he looked back to the cliff where his egg was. Cale wished his love would come back so that she could see their child hatch. Sighing even more he continued to sing before he heard someone. Jumping back and onto all fours he hissed a bit.

Grey blue eyes focused in on him and they watched him as he backed up slightly "What do you want?... Why do you care?" he asked quickly. He was ready to fly away at any moment not trusting this human. Cale could not afford death and risk his little one not living at all.

He smiled, even as the creature dropped down to all fours and hissed at him. Lorain knew that it was just a defensive gesture. The human thought for a moment before taking a seat, trying to show the Harpy that he meant him no harm. He reached for the carrying back at his side and pulled out a small package before unwrapping it. It was a bunch of small fish. He often used them as bait for bigger fish. Lorien held them out to the Harpy as a sort of peace offering.

"I hate to see any living thing in pain and your song was certainly very sad. Is it wrong to be curious about such a thing?" he told the Harpy, waiting for the other to accept the fish.

If the Harpy intended to kill him then now would be the time since he was sitting and would be unable to get up fast enough to defend himself. Besides, all he had on him was a small knife that he used when fishing. It certainly wouldn't do much good against a Harpy.

He watched him suspiciously as he sat down and pulled something out. He growled and crouched down more before he saw that it was fish. Cale straightened himself out a bit but was still unsure. Tail twitched behind him slightly and he tilted his head to the side as he listened to him. Eyes narrowed he slowly approached him and snatched the fish up and retreated back and laid down looking at the fish. The harpy sniffed at it. It seemed fine and untainted. Grey eyes looked up and he slowly started to eat it.

After a few fish he spoke to him “… my song was sad because I have lost my mate. Without her I can’t take care of myself and my egg” he said looking up to the cliff “… I need to get back to it soon. I can’t leave it for long or it will die… why am I even telling you this…” he muttered standing up to his full height almost ready to fly back up.

He chuckled when the Harpy snatched the fish away before retreating again in order to eat them. It was fascinating to watch the creature. He was beautiful to look at and with a voice that matched his looks. However, his smile faded when he heard why the Harpy's song had been so sorrowful.

"You're trying to hatch an egg all alone?" he asked.

This got him to thinking for a moment and finally an idea hit him.

"I may be just a stranger to you but might I be allowed to aid you? All I ask in return is that you sing for me each day." he told him.

Lorien had no family so helping to hatch an egg was no big deal for him. Besides, it would allow him to learn more about this magnificent creature before him.

Cale lifted his wings up and had started to crouch down in order to push off until he heard the human speak once again. Wings slowly moved back down to his sides and he narrowed his eyes once more. He didn’t know if he should trust him. For all he knew this was a trick to kill him and his egg, he knew how much humans could despise them. He muttered a bit to himself but then he thought if the human truly meant it there could be a chance for his little one to live.

Looking back at him once more he jumped up and flew several feet up into the air. Without any warning his tail wrapped around the other man’s middle and his claws gripped onto him and he shot up and bringing him to the top of the cliff where he lived. It was really in the face of it. There was soft green grass and a cave that was there. No one could get to it unless they could some how fly or climb up the steep face of the cliff. Cale set the man down before dashing into the cave and wrapping himself around the nest that was there. In the nest was one pale blue egg with black speckles on it.

The harpy cooed at it before looking back out the other man and wondering if he was going to enter or not to see what it was he was going to have to be taking care of. Cale wasn’t sure still and he knew just one wrong move and the human was gone.

Lorien watched and waited as the male thought about his offer. It seemed, at first, that he would be rejected but that didn't turn out to be the case. He was suddenly snatched up by the Harpy and carried up to his nest. The man was soon set down upon the ground and watched the Harpy enter the cave. His eyes soon fell upon the egg that the creature was curled around.

"May I approach and touch your egg?" he asked.

He figured that it would be wise to ask before he did anything, lest the creature attack him trying to defend the egg.

Cale watched as he came just a bit closer. Looking down at his egg he nodded his head and shifted out of the way slightly but kept curled up around it to keep it warm still “I really just need you to keep the little one nice and warm. Maybe speak to it every now and again. Even though it’s an egg there is a little one inside of it. Treat it like you would child” he said gently caressing the shell “Treat it like it’s the most important thing in the world to you for it is to me.”

The harpy nuzzled the egg and looked up “do you really want me to just sing for you in payment for doing this? I almost kind of expected you would want more or something…”

He smiled and approached, kneeling next to the egg. Lorien reached out to run a gentle hand over it, listening as the Harpy spoke to him. The egg was beautiful and it was so very warm. He could tell that the Harpy was doing an excellent job in caring for the egg by himself.

"You are a very diligent father. I'm sure that your mate would be very proud." he said, smiling.

"And yes. I am certain that your voice will be payment enough. What else could I have asked for?" he asked.

"Also, might I know your name? My name is Lorien." he added after a moment.
