Deano was in something of a state of shock as the violent exchange beyond his control played out in front of him and for once, found himself left wanting for words. "Fuck, Jack!" he yelled as he made his way over to the staggered boy who Jack had violently struck out at.
Deano crouched down to tend to James "Jeeeesus, he did a right number on you!" he said lightheartedly, not wanting to dampen the mood further. He brought his hand up to James's face who winced in pain as contact was made "Yikes, sorry man" he apologised, although it should really have been Jack apologising. He brought his face closer and licked the bruise that was beginning to form on the side of James's face and then whispered in his ear.
"Look kid, you lost your chance to get on the team... But we'll get an apology outta Jackie boy at the very least" he promised, reaching down and patting James's bum gently. Swivelling round, Deano glared at Jack and walked closer to him, kneeling in front of the seated boy. Jack closed his eyes, probably expecting to be hit back - but Deano wasn't the violent type and he had other things in mind.
"Get on all fours" he commanded.
