Jay frowned as Farrell told the story of his scars, though he joined the boy in smiling as the story concluded "Hmmm... Bit of a bittersweet story isn't it? It's sad that you ended up getting those scars, and really odd that a Pokemon should be so strangely vicious, but it's sweet that it brought you and Eevee closer together"
Noting Farrell's change of subject, he obligingly went along with the conversation he resumed, not wanting to delve too deep into the history of the boy who was - for all intents and purposes - a stranger. "Competitions aren't really my thing, I want the thrill of the fight! That's where it's at" he smiled in excitement at the prospect of fighting his first Gym leader; although he knew he'd have to train more before he'd have a hope in hell of winning. Suddenly a brainwave hit him "Hey, maybe there's a Pokemon outbreak somewhere near here, could be a Pokemon that'll be able to hold its own against a Rock-type!" he said, pulling his pocket radio from his bag and turning it on - although he was greeted with an awful screeching sound that sounded similar to microphone feedback. "Argh!" Jay shouted, dropping the radio in the snow. He pulled his hat down to try and cover his ears and went to retrieve the radio frmo the floor when an icy ball struck the floor just in front of Jay, causing him to fall backwards.
He looked around in fear, not knowing where the attack had come from, shivering as the weather grew colder.
