"No need to be rude, sir" was Ivan's reaction in response to what the man had told him. He didn't like cocky nor insensitive people. He had no idea who the man was, but he did have a bit of an attitude problem. It wasn't like he'd intentionally barged into his room. That unpleasant and embarrassing situation was all because of a misunderstanding, which he intended to clarify very soon.
He was just about to reach for the door knob, when the man asked him if he'd been to the concert. He couldn't simply ignore his question and leave, so he turned around, and nodded a yes.
