"Ah!" He yelled, pain shooting up his body yet he still got back to his feet, staring his opponent down. It was obvious his target was a veteran and it would be hard to take him down without underhanded tactics. Sure, Assassins did have codes of honor. But Alex was one of the rare few that didn't, and would take any job as long as the coin was right.
Alex thought for a moment, being well versed in trickery he attempted to run in and dive out of the way at the last second. And for the better part it worked, he even managed to get some lucky hits in. But it only resulted in him seeing the sword head his general direction. He lifted his to block but it was sent out of his hands. Only thing good that came out of that was that the longsword had missed him.
He had no plans to surrender that easy. But at this point it was one of three things. Run and be branded a coward; something which he never done in his life. Surrender and become enslaved; which to him was worse than death. And of course death; but even if he did surrender Alucard would kill him anyway right?
There was a chance for him to pick his sword back up and continue the fight. But that chance faded fast as where it landed was at the edge of a cliff. He could only watch in horror as it finally gave in to gravity and fell. The fall in Alex's mind was in slow motion. He was highly regarded as one of the best Assassins, and it felt like his career was over as quickly as it began.
Alex turned back towards the opponent. Even unarmed he wasn't prepared to back down; even if the situation looked absolutely hopeless.
