Sing a Song for Me [Masquerade]

Cale hummed a little bit as Lorien reached out to touch his egg. He had a tense feeling even if he did know he wasn’t going to hurt it. And he listened to what he said even though his focus was on the egg. Soon he did look up at him “My name is Cale.” The harpy gave something that sounded like a deep purr as he pressed an ear to listen inside of the egg. Just a little bit more of developing and soon his little one could come out and be with him in this world. It made him smile at the thought but he had to make sure it was alive till then.

Shifting a little bit more so Lorien could have a bit more room he looked up at him “Do you need to go back down anytime soon? It would be good to let anyone know you would be gone for awhile. I need you to stay up here most of the time to watch the egg. Food won’t be a worry with you up here because I can easily get enough for the two of us. Three when this little one comes.”

Lorien smiled and took his hand away from the egg before looking at Cale, now that he knew the Harpy's name.

"No. I should be fine for awhile. I have no family so I don't need to worry about that and you said that you would be able to bring food enough for all of us so I think I'll be fine. The only problem I can see is freezing to death at night. Unlike you, I don't have feathers to keep myself warm." he replied.

He was glad to know that the Harpy seemed to trust him enough to touch the egg. However, keeping it warm would have been much harder if he was unable to even touch it.

Cale listened to what he had to say. He thought about that a bit. Getting up he moved a bit deeper into the cave and pulled out a few furs that he had incase his feathers didn’t keep him warm enough at night especially when winter came “You can use these if you want. It’s pretty warm out at night, at least to me, so I don’t really need them but you can use these for it. And it could help with keeping the egg warm too” he said moving to lay back down at the small nest again.

He sighed a little bit and looked up at him. Cale wondered if they could really get along. The harpy hummed and cooed a bit “should I sing for you now?”

He smiled widely and took one of the furs in hand. Just from a touch he could already tell that they would be very warm indeed. Lorien held one of the furs in his lap so that he would remember to use it later. He then nodded when Cale asked if he should sing now.

"Please do." he told the Harpy.

The harpy watched him and nodded his head. Sitting up he opened his mouth and started to sing. It was a song that almost seemed more like a lullaby. Maybe it was some instinct to sing that way when he was in the presence of his child. Either way it was soft and delicate. He was able to change his voice pitch easily and skillfully and it almost seemed like two people were singing. His voice echoed off the walls as he sang the song and soon it was done.

Cale looked at him and tilted his head to the side and wondered if that was satisfactory for him “Was that good or do you want a better song?” he asked as he laid back down with a small hum tail slowly moving back and forth behind him.

"No. That song was lovely." he told the Harpy, watching as Cale layed back down.

He wanted to touch the Harpy so badly. The others plumage looked so warm, so fluffy. He wasn't able to restrain the urge to ask for very long though.

"Might I be able to touch you, Cale?" he asked.

Lorien didn't want to do anything the Harpy didn't like so he made sure to ask before he did anything. That somehow reminded him that he did indeed need something from his house. If he was to help look after the others egg then he would need a weapon. Harpies weren't the only creatures around these parts so Lorien would need a weapon to defend the egg but also to defend himself when Cale was off hunting. Oh well...that could wait until tomorrow.

He smiled a little bit and shifted his wings under his chin. When he heard that he wanted to touch him he debated before nodding his head and giving him permission. Cale wouldn’t mind it at all. He actually did kind of miss the small touches of another so maybe this could be a nice substitute. The harpy moved just a bit closer to him with a small coo “Are you hungry at all. I can go down and get you something to eat if you’re hungry” he said in a soft tone.

He smiled when the other gave him permission to touch his feathers and then moved a bit closer. Lorien ran a hand gently over Cale's feathered side. So warm. So fluffy. So soft. He loved the feel of it. Somewhere deep down he was beginning to desire a little something...more. This worried him a bit but he would just see where this lead him.

"Something to eat sounds nice." he replied.

He was actually quite hungry. He hadn't eaten at all today and he hadn't had enough time to catch anything before he met Cale.

When Lorien started to run his hand across his feathers it actually felt pretty good. It was gentle and nice to him. He sighed a little bit and it made him relax even more. He made a sound that was close to purr. His feathers almost seemed to grow softer as he pet them and it made him smile a little bit before he heard his reply.

Getting up he shook himself out a bit “One moment” he said as he got up. He moved the egg closer to Lorien before he left the cave and bounded down to the edge before jumping off. He flew down to the river and jumped into it. Cale was there for a few good, long moments before he finally appeared back up and came back in. He was still wet as he offered up a pretty big fish “I think I have a few things to start a fire if you would like one to cook your fish.”

The purr that the other gave was rather adorable but the contact soon ended when the other stood. Lorien moved a bit closer to the egg so that it wouldn't have to be moved to much. He then wrapped the fur around it as he curled himself around the egg as best as he could. This would be his job until the egg hatched but he honestly didn't mind. This was an experience that no one before has gotten to experience. He looked at Cale when the other returned and slowly sat up. However, he kept the fur around the egg.

"I can eat it raw. It's a plus for having non-human ancestors. My bloodline has a bit of River-Folk in it. Normal Humans call them 'Merfolk'." he replied, reaching out to take the fish.

"Does that mean I'm technically your prey?" he asked, thinking upon that.

He had never heard stories of a Harpy eating a person but he has heard of them attacking Merfolk. Merfolk were part fish so that was understandable but they were also part human. Did that mean that Harpies could also attack and eat people if they wanted to?

"Would you like some?" he asked Cale.
