ACADEMY X - CLASS BUILDING - MAIN HALL - 3:30 PM

Shoveling his books on 'How to properly dodge a laser beam' and the guidelines of the Danger Room packet he made for Defense class into his locker, Matty sighed to himself. Locks of cinnamon colored hair fell into his chocolate colored eyes while he bent to haul his school bag up over his shoulder and slam his locker shut. The sound echoing through the near-empty hallway.

Today was Friday, They'd be serving dinner in two hours, then roll-call and 'lights out' (Nobody listened to this one, though). That's how the Xavier's Academy for Gifted Youngsters worked under the new rule of Scott Summers- AKA- Cyclops. Matty was one of the forty new students invited to join the academy when Charles decided to hand the power over to his most loyal alumni.

Right now, It was time to go to the Danger Room and watch kids from the other classes spar with each other. Today, Matty was feeling like getting in on the fight! Maybe he'd get a chance to battle with some of the other new students, too.

Myra stepped into the danger room. What a big room, he thought. It was his first day here and Noone knew his powers. He had a type of advantage because of that, they wouldn't expect what to see when they sparred with him. Myra walked in a little closer to the center of the room as he inspected it.

He wondered what kind of guy, or maybe even a girl, he might get to fight. Would they overpower him? Or would be able to overpower them. He wanted to test his skills on how trained he was. Considering he trained by himself , and that wasn't even a lot of time, he had room for improvement and more control. But he was capable of using his powers nonchalantly without it being ostentatious.

He turned around as he heard other kids walk in the room, staring at the new kid. Great, Myra thought, here they cone. Myra blushed and looked to the instructor, patiently waiting for instructions for his first sparring exercise.

Entering the Danger Room, He dropped his bag near the doorway with the others and rolled back his shoulders trying to figure out where he'd stand. He spotted one of the girls from Orientation Day looking off into the center of the empty simulation room and decided that she'd be good enough company for now. Walking over, Matty waved and she waved back- They both faced forward as the instructor came into view.

Colossus, The well-known Russian X-Men entered the room with Night-crawler tagging his side, The former stood in front of the class while the steel man continued off toward the control panels for the Danger Room.

Tail whipping from side to side behind him, The blue skinned male waved at the audience of students politely. "Guten tag! We've decided zat you all vill be split und to three teams for zis exercise." He pointed to each group of students and announced the number accordingly, Matty was in team one.

"Now, This room is quite large, Ja? You'll all be pit against your opposing team, Zat way, whichever team has ze most students standing at the end of zis test will be given ze extra credit." His strange three-fingered hands clapped together.

"Und, We begin!" Scampering off to the side of the large metal room, The students slowly flooded inside and spread out while around them, A synthetic desert-esque landscape formed.

"Here goes nothing..." Matty muttered to himself before the room buzzed, signifying the start of the battle.

Myra watched as a hot guy walked intothe room, was his name mat? Matty? He faced forward as colossus and nightcrawler walked in and gave them instructions. His gaze traced down toward where the other guy was sitting. He watched as he was told to be in team 1. Would he be in team one also? If I'm not, Myra grinned, he is going to be mine.

Myra waited patiently for the instructor to give him his team number. 3. So he wasn't in team 1. He stood up and watched as the others walked forward to the center of the room. Let's start, Myra thought. As soon as the arena was made, Myra's eyes flashed silver and made surreal obstcles inside the desert arena to fool the others. This is my power, Myra thought, can you beat it? Unless there was a type of power that identified other's powers, they wouldNt
know the rocks and tumbleweed were fake.

Myra grinned as the instructors marked the beginning of the spar and his teammates and enemies walked forward to fight. Myra made a strategy to just stay back and dodge when neccesary to hide the fact that he could made illusions. Myra grinned, now let's see confused faces

Various students immediately went into battle mode, Lunging at one another and using their powers to the fullest extent in order to defeat members of the opposing teams. Matty ducked away from a punch to the face when a large student bounded toward him, His shadowy branches holding his attacker against the sand while he easily got away.

It was amusing how people were falling through some of the scenery- Apparently they weren't part of the simulation. His eyes searched the landscape for the one who created these fake obstacles, falling on one student who seemed intent on hiding rather then sparring.

"Hm." Matty pressed his hands against the artificial sand, his branches pushing forward and unfurling as they grew closer to the cute petite blue haired boy. "Gotcha!"His tendrils suddenly coiled around his victim's narrow waist and ankles to hold him in place as he advanced. "Time to see what I caught."

Myra chuckled at the confused faces of students running through rocks. He intently looked at one student and his eyes flashed silver. He made an illusion of a herd of elephants running toward that one boy. He chuckled as he Watched that boy running toward the opposite direction. It was only directed at him, Noone else could see it. He watched as one of his teammates through several knives that seemed to appear out of nowhere towed an enemy. Hmmm, not bad, myra thought.

Myra suddenly gasped as he couldn't move his waist and arms. He looked down and saw tendrils of shadows moving across his body. He trailed the shadow to it's owner. MATTY! Myra wagged his index finger and his eyes flashed silver briefly. Matty would
now be seeing Myra somewhere else running toward him. Would this fool him?

Matty flinched seeing the sudden illusion of Myra, Yeah, that was his name, running right toward him before taking a sharp turn. Of course the larger boy wasn't fooled in the least. His tendrils only spread further around the other boy's limbs while he made way over to him, crouching beside him behind the imaginary rock.

"Tag." He pressed his hand to Myra's shoulder, tendrils slinking back into the shadows. "This whole fight thing is over-rated, I like chilling out better." He muttered, looking around the side of the rock in case any students charged toward them.

Myra stayed still, without another option, as Matty walked over to him and touched his shoulder. Myra flinched as Matty touched his shoulder, thinking he would hurt him. He smiled when Matty talked to him "me too, watch this"

Myra made an illusion of a flying cucumber in front of an enemy. He laughed quietly as he watched the enemy staring at the cucumber in amazement. "this is my power, if you haven't found out yet. I'm Myra" he held his hand out "an illusionist"

"I guessed as much, That's a pretty cool power." Matty shook his hand with a smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Matthew... People call me Matty." Hearing another student fall face-first into a rock illusion, The light haired male snickered to himself and glanced around.

"Good luck!" He said, legs pushing off the ground while he took off in a run across the synthetic sand floor. Shadow branches grew in his steps, trapping students who went to target him like rats in a trap. Suckers, Thought the boy, This would be easy enough a win!

Eventually the teams withered down to roughly two kids in team one, three in team two and only one in team three. Matty and Myra were still in and doing fine while most of the other kids were exhausted by now. Nightcrawler still looked on at them from the observatory of the DR with amusement in his gleaming golden eyes. Matty shivered and trailed along the sand for his next victim.
A brunette girl from team two tagged herself out by accident, and the other kids on team one and two fell victim to Myra's illusion.

Before he could really realize it, Matty and Myra were the only two left on the battle field.

Myra double checked the field for any other survivors of the game and he looked at Matty. He waved "hai!" but little did Matty know, Myra waved his hands to use an illusion. He made an illusion of himself standing there still waving as he placed a illusionsry veil around Matty's eyes to lock his visual abilities to see Myra running towards him. Still, Matty saw through that trick. He made duplicates EVERYWHERE around the field of myra waving at Matty.

"hai!" all the duplicates said. Myra chuckled. Matty was smart he would probably see through this trick. Let's just hope for the best, Myra thought.
