Happy Cold ( Private inbetween Seven and Ink )

[Seven]

It was quite drafty outside the great cabins,
at the deck of the very ship.
Only a few was outside, enjoying a smoke
or just wanting to escape the noise from
the disco at the upper deck, and the indoor pools
at the lower deck...

Rion himself out here for both reasons..
noise had always been the main reason for him to stay
away from too crowdy rooms..he enjoyed silence..
he sighed, blew out some smoke and leaned back on the rail..
watching the last few people leave the deck as it became just
too cold..

James Hartson, or Jamie as his friends called him, had come outside, hoping the cold air would clear his head. He hadn't been feeling great ever since the ship took off, and he wondered if he had sea sickness. He wouldn't know, he'd never been on a boat before. He leaned over the side of the railing, suddenly feeling like he might vomit. Unfortuneatly, he leaned too far, too fast, and wound up tumbling into the water.

Rion sighed and looked at the midnight blue sky.
But froze as he heard something splash into the water...
wondering if anyone dropped something into the icy water..
It was first when a little group of youngsters began screaming and pointing
he became worried..he dropped the last bud of his cigarette and turned around,
astonished to see a male had dropped into the water..

Jamie was a pretty good swimmer usually, but his the icy water and his full clothes served to hamper that. It didn't help that it felt like a ball of lead was in his stomach, and he was soon struggling to stay up for air. He couldn't make out the screaming of the ship, and was having a hard time just keeping track of the ship itself. He didn't want to die like this.

"call the captain or something!?"
one of the younglings panicked and pushed his mate,
whom made a run for it to the captains quarters..

Rion watched the clumsy younglings panic around.
Deciding he had to do something..he chopped the first rope of a
longboad, making it tilt so the tip of it touched the surface of the ice cold water..
He dropped his coat and threw it onto the longboad.
Hoping by god that the water was deep enough, as he stood on the rail and jumped.

The water was definitly deep enough, being about as deep as, say, three of the ships they were on. Jamie was starting to lose some energy, and was taking longer and longer in between breaths of air. He still wasn't even aware that something else had entered the water with him.

[Seven]

Rion came to the surface with a gasp.
Holy mother Maria the water was freezing..
He shook his head and tried to locate the fallen youngling..
Scouting him, he picked up the chopped piece of rope, whom was
still tied to the boat and knotted it around his right foot.
The rope was long enough to reach to the youngster for now , but he had to hurry
within the boat came too fat away...he dived down under, swimming against the struggling male..

Jamie was so numb from the cold, that he eventually stopped struggling, lulled into stupor by the lack of energy and quiet of underwater. He wouldn't even notice if someone was manhandling him now.

[Seven]

Rion nearly panicked as the saw the
male going down under..he took a deep breath and dived under the surface.
The rope soon decreasing its length as the boat became farther away..
He grabbed hold in the younglings arm, lifting him upon his shoulders and went to the surface..
feeling the cold starting to make his skin sting badly..he gaspered for air, trying to mount the stranger onto his back as he began swimming against the ship, that was alerted by
the missing man.

Jamie coughed and sputtered at the surface, signaling that he was still alive, but other than that he appeared mostly unconcious. Meanwhile, on deck, people were swarming, bringing things to help, like blankets, towels, medicine. The ships doctor had come on the scene as well, but it wasn't like he was really an expert in this, he only dealt with the usual odds and ends of being on a cruise. Motion sickness and what not; not people almost drowning.
