Question for everyone. I have noticed on a lot of yaoi pictures (not just this site) that a lot of yaoi pictures feature a black or white horizontal bar across a guy's penis. Was just curious as to why that is.

Japanese censorship laws. You're not supposed to show certain things, the hood of a guys bellend for example is one thing, clitoris and the inside of a girl is another.

I get the impression that the black-bar isn't actually enough to make it legal (I mean, you can still pretty much see everything) so its probably fine as is, but its enough to get the publishers lawyers off your back. Otherwise they'd be screaming "OMG! You're leaving us open to all sorts of liability, do something about it!!"

As with most things, its more about the lawyers than the actually police or the law.

im not entirely sure but i thought i read something about that being a censorship thing in japan xD
something about if you can't see the whole cock, they its not a fully mature (rated M xD) thingy. so if you only hide a really small spot, like with such a black bar, its fine the way they see it xD
or it had to do with even selling those manga officially xD
as i said, im not sure about it though ^^

i also assume its some idiotic censorship thing.
kinda makes me wonder why its so common on the net, though.
woulnt it be easy to just use a host in a different country? or is this not how these things work?
