A Dragon and his Seer [private for me and Kaido]

The morning of the journey had finally arrived. It was long awaited, but never had Faasnu Gein felt such anxiousness welling up deep in the pit of his stomach. He laid atop his bed within the prison cell that he was kept in, staring out the barded window in the center of the room. A flock of birds flew right by as they sang their morning songs. It was endearing and it brought a smirk to the dragonkin’s lips, until he heard the sound of locks being undone. His attention diverted towards the door to this cell, but he didn’t bother getting up. He laid there as two guards walked in to his cell, slightly fearful but attempting to preserve their courage. It was humorous, until the guard captain walked in, his stern demeanor showing that he had no fear for the dragonkin. It was impressive, but then again, they really had nothing to fear. Faasnu Gein had already agreed to his conditions, and it wasn’t like he was going to try and break out. If he really wanted too, he could have done that a really long time ago.

The dragonkin got up from the bed and stood in front of the guard captain. The size comparison was obvious as Faasnu Gein towered over the three men. “Time to go”, he said as he walked out of the cell, with Faasny Gein following behind, the two guards behind him as well. He was still shackled up from his hands, a poor attempt to keep him bound to them. It was laughable and adorable, but he would play to their rule. As they walked down the halls of the castle, many of the servant and other inhabitants watched upon the group, on really ever greeting the guard captain. Some of the servants would look at Faasnu Gein with confusion or amazement. Dragonkin where not common place so to see one outside its tribe or even amongst the populace was rare. He spotted a cute elven servant boy who look upon Faasnu Gein with a slight flushed tint among his face. It was adorable and so the dragonkin smirked at the boy, watching as he jumped and ran away. Wasn’t sure if it was out of joy or fear.

As they reached the courtroom, the king and queen sat at their thrones, with guards stationed at almost every corner of the room. Standing in front of them was what looked to be some sort of court wizard and what Faasnu Gein could only assume was the blind seer he was to accompany. The guard captain brought the dragonkin besides the two and then soon turned to undo Faasnu Gein’s shackles. Of course, the dragonkin was keen to impress and so, without much effort, pulled his arms apart and then bindings shattered, falling towards the ground. Many of the guards we ready at arms, but the guard captain halted them and looked back at Faasnu Gein, who only smirked at back him.

The rest of the conversation was long winded. Faasnu Gein heard about his task, which was solely to look after and protect the seer. The boy beside him looked young, possibly too young to have to carry such a burden. Of course, Faasnu Gein said he would do this and he wasn’t going to go back on his word. Once everything was agreed upon, they were prepared. Provisions were handed over to the dragonkin to hold onto and even though they offered to outfit him, he decided to stick with his own armor and clothing. Less of a threat if nobody knew he was working for the king. Within a matter of minutes, the pair were sent out on a carriage to the next neighboring town. It was a small fishing port but they were to meet an agent of the king whom would guide them to a powerful artifact that could help them on their quest.

Within the carriage was just Faasnu Gein and the boy. It was quiet for the most part, but the dragonkin couldn’t help but study the boy. “What is your name”, he asked, his course voice sounding intimidating and frightful, though it was very fitting for his appearance.

The day had finally arrived, the day that he was to venture out of the castle and to the world. You think it would be strange for a blind person to be excited for a journey that he won't be able to see, but he was. For he had been behind the castle walls for so many years. He was limited to where he can even go in the castle. He was always lead to where he was to go and where and when to be there. For he was not a normal blind man, he was the oracle of the kingdom.

From a young age he had this gift. Able to see into the future and prevent disasters before they happen. While he may not be able to stop thew cause, he was able to help people escape before many lives were lost. It made him feel good, but it came with a price. Sure he had a life that many dream of. Wearing the finest of robes, eating delicious food fit for a king, and was deck in gem and jewels that woman wish they can even look at. Yet...a part of him did not think it was worth the price he paid for them.

Elvar du Quesnai, his birth name. Was up before the servants arrived at their usual time. The morning was all the same to him. He was helped out of bed, though he knows he can do it himself. Washed head to toe with lavender and honey scented soap. Then dressed in his favorite silver and blue robe made of silk with a hood. He was the deck out with shining jewelry from head to toe. Lastly he had the blindfold tired around his eyes. To protect them from the light of the sun. Looking a piece of treasure then he did a normal person. He was giving his staff that he used to help him look around as he was lead to the throne room to meet with the king and queen.

A few weeks ago, awhile asleep in his room, He had a vision. The world, covered in darkness. Many people lost their lives and many kingdoms fell, including this one. The cause was a giant black dragon with eyes red as blood. It brought nothing but destruction and misery. The only thing that stopped it was a bright burning light. When he awoke in fright it alerted the guards that stood outside his room every night came in as soon as they heard him speak in strange tongue and saw a glowing light from the crack of the door. One stayed with the oracle and the other went to get the king for it was their duty to alert the king the moment he has vision such as this.

After he told the king of his vision. The king knew that when the lad had them. they were true and usually come soon. He told the king that the beast will arise within six months but from where he saw it all happen, it will take some time to arrive so they needed to act quickly. After discussing it with the court it was clear that the light that saved them was in fact Elvar, but to send the oracle out on his own, not to mention the fact he was blind out was highly dangerous. For they want him to return as soon as the threat was over. That's when the king had an idea.

Now as he stood there to await the man that is to escort him. He was told that this man was capable of doing the job, but he was in jail for quite some time and this was his way for paying for his crime. He had to admit he felt a little uneasy about it. Also the fact that no one told him anything else other then that. They always left him in the dark, it bothered him but he just bottled it. Soon he felt a powerful presence approaching them. He had never felt anything like it before. That's when he heard the rattling of shackles entering the room, he knew that it was the man that was to come with him. Soon he felt him standing beside him. Whoever this person was, he was not a normal human.

After the king instruct them on their task, he bows to the king and promise him that he shall return and will make sure nothign will happen to the kingdom. As they prep for the journey ahead. He tries to help, but the servant gently pushed him tot he side and told him to be careful and that they got it under control. Soon he was helped into the carriage and were off to the fishing port close by. He could not believe it, he was finally getting out. Oh how excited he was, but he was also nervous and scared but did not let it show.

It was quiet at first but soon the other male spoke and asked him of his name. He was a little startled at the sudden voice but he softly chuckles. "Oh, I am Elvar du Quesnai, but please call me Elvar." he said in a softly but friendly tone. For he was either address as oracle or by his full name. Maybe he could get at least one person to call him by his first name.

Elvar. That sounds nice.” Faasnu Gein couldn’t help but admire the kid. He looked young, which he more than likely was. His hair seemed long from what he could tell and was pure white. Most likely it was due to his abnormal abilities. Seers and oracles were common place for the most part, but ones that actually saw the future were rare. Faasnu Gein assumed that seeing the future would make one look old due to stress and mental exertion, but Elvar seemed to keep the appearance of a fresh faced teen. It was odd to admit it, but Faasnu Gein couldn’t help but wonder what he looked like under all that clothing. The mere though began to excite him, but he tried his hardest to ignore the thought.

The question was Faasnu Gein really into that? He considered himself to be an opportunist, in all things. He’s been with women and he he’s been with men. If they offered, he didn’t care, and sometimes he was the one doing the chasing. When he used to run his mercenary band, they tended to have a tab set up at the local cathouse for any of the boys who needed to ‘unwind’ after a long day. There was a mutual understand between the two groups and as long as the money was paid, the mistresses hardly ever cared. It was strange to recall those memories, seeing as how they came up by just thinking of the kid undressed.

Faasnu Gein quickly shook the thoughts away and quickly came back to the real world. “Well, my name is Faasnu Gein Ved Viing, though the guards have taken to calling me Zed. You may call me either one.” Faasnu Gein crossed his arms over his bare chest and looked out the window of the carriage. There was a forest to their right and the sea to their left. You could smell the ocean breeze and he the seagulls in the back. Oh how he hated seagulls.

To hear him just call him by his first name made the young lad happy. A big smile appeared on his face. It made him feel like a normal person. As he listens to his voice. He tries his best to picture him what he looked like. Since he can not see normally, he can;t stare right at him. The only time he can see anything is if he has visions. So he knew what certain things looked like, but people are one of a kind, so he has a harder time imagining what the other male looked. Still if he had to guess, he sound tall, big, most likely had muscles. Maybe with a beard or at least a stubble face. He was picturing him as what most knights looked like or at least told what they look like. Knowing there was a chance he was wrong.

He was then told of the other male's name. It was most interesting to him, but it was nice to know his name. "It's nice to meet you, Faasnu." he said. He thought of calling him Zed but hearing that he was in the dungeon, he thought that Zed was a name that he may not like for it could mean something that he is not aware of. Seeing as they were going to be together for a long time, he wanted to earn his trust and get along with him as best as he could. While he still gets the vibe that he is a powerful man, he wanted to be somewhat on the same page as him.

Just then he heard an unfamiliar sound and got a whiff of something salty. Curious he sticks his head out of the carriage window to hear out. A huge smile appeared on his face as he listens and smells. "What a funny sound." he said, talking about the seagulls. He can hear the ocean crashing onto land. "I hear something that sounds like water. Are we close to a river? But that to sounds different." he said, mostly talking out loud. For it was a habit of his he grew to after sending so much time alone. This was also the first time he was close to the ocean so this was all new to him and he was loving it.

Being called by the first portion of his name was slightly humorous. His name wasn’t like that of a human, where they normally had a first name and then last name. Still, his full name was Fearless One once translated into the normal language of humans, so being called just Fearless was still fitting. He stifled a chuckle as he thought about that, but didn’t let it take over his composer. He managed to keep it well in tact so far, though something about the kid in front of him told him this journey wouldn’t be a boring one. He watched as the other male turned around towards the carriage window and stuck his head out partially to listen to the seagulls and then the ocean.

That funny sound more than likely are the seagulls. Selfish birds that would more than likely sell their first born for food, had they any sort of mental capacity.” Once again though, he boy mentioned the ocean. Faasnu Gein chuckled again and moved over towards the boy, leaning close to him to get a look outside as well. “That would be the ocean, the town were going to is a fishing port so it only makes sense we could be close to one.” Faasnu Gein stepped back and sat next to the boy on his side of the carriage. “I take it by your ‘child like’ curiosity that you rarely get out much, much less leave the castle walls.” It was strange to see people live such restricted lives. Even with his short time in the prison, he watched as so many people led their lives closed behind the walls of the castle and the city it was centered upon. Faasnu Gein was never one for a static life, he enjoyed the adventure of the open road, the freedom of going where you pleased without anyone or anything to dictate where you could go.

Faasnu Gein leaned back into the comfortable carriage and rested his eyes seeing as how they were still a ways from the town. “If we have any spare time once where in town, maybe we could go to the beach? You’d be able to experience the ocean for the first time.

He listens as he was told of the birds that were making the noise. He was quiet at first, but then he chuckles. Thinking how he describe them was rather humorous. Getting a feeling that the man did not like the birds. But he did mostly for the sound they were making. It wasn't like the tweets and chirps he heard through the window of his chambers. While he does enjoy those noises, this was silly to him and it made him feel good. Even if it might seem strange.

Then Faasnu explains the other noise he was hearing, the ocean. Feeling the shift of movement in the carriage as the other male moves closer to him. He remember being told of it by his tutor, but all he could picture was just a giant lake. He could not picture it being all that large or the sound it would make, but it found it peaceful. It it weren't for the seagulls, the sound of the waves could sooth him to sleep. If he was not so excited about the journey. He was also told of where they were going that was close to the large body of water. "Oh, I can't wait!" he said happily. Wondering what the port would be like.

As he took a seat he asked him about being out of the castle wall. Though his cheeks did turn pink as he called his excitement 'child like'. He could not help himself. It was all new to him. He pulls himself back into the carriage and sat down himself. "You are correct. Ever since I was a child and was taken in by the king. Where I may and may not go was...limited." he tells him in a soft voice He still had a smile on his face, but it didn't seem like a true smile. "If I was not in my chambers I was in the library with my tutor. If I was not there then I was in a special room with people all over the kingdom to come and use my powers to see into their future. There were only a few times where I even met up with his majesty in the dinning hall. That's pretty much all I ever went." he tells him.

Speaking to him about that reminded him the times as a child how he wanted to go to other places, even just to the garden that was right below his chambers. But was told that it would be better of him to stay in his chamber and had the rare squire come and play with him or having some form of company. He was pretty much alone and store away in a room. Only time he really saw people is when they need him for his gift. It made him feel so lonely but he never once complain.

As they sat in the carriage. He heard the other male tell him that if they have the time, he will take him down to the beach and let him enjoy the ocean. He looked like he was about to shout yay, but he stopped himself and shook his head. "That's quite alright." he tells him. "We don't need to take stops on our journey. We should only focus on the task at hand." he tells him. Now he really wanted to go, really he did, but a part of him thought it was selfish. It was already a miracle that he was even let outside the castle. But he sworn to the king and the court that he will use his gifts for the kingdom and the people. So stopping at the beach so that he can just enjoy it sounded to selfish of him. He had to put everyone's safety before his own happiness. That was the point of being an oracle right?

Faasnu Gein couldn’t help but frown a bit at the boy’s story. It was unfortunate to hear how his freedoms were so limited. His life seemed stagnate, not really doing much other then was required of him. Faasnu Gein never knew that life, nor would he if he had stayed in the village. His mother would have more than likely pushed him to go out into the world, make some sort of name for himself. Even the village elder passed on his knowledge in the hopes that he would leave the village and be someone. Going after his father’s killers was the first step, after that leaving for good to explore the world was all that was left. Sometimes he always wondered what he may have become if he had just stayed in the village. More the likely, he would have been a hunter or some sort of laborer. If he was truly lucky, he could have taken the place of the village elder, seeing as how he practically treated Faasnu Gein as his own child, after his father died. Still, he was happy with the life he led once he left, though he wondered what his mother would think to hear of the things he has done.

Faasnu Gein chuckled again at the kid’s response from before. “Listen, this is your first time out of the castle and away from all the peers that led you’re every move. You have to take advantage of it just a little.” Maybe Elvar felt guilty, seeing as how they did have limited time, but even so, a part of him must want to experience these things while he had the chance. This might be the only chance he ever gets, and who knows what the outcome will be once this is all said and done. It was a scary notion, to think you may have to sacrifice yourself for the entire world’s safety, but that outcome shouldn’t be out ruled.

Look, by the time we get to the town, we’ll have only so much sun left. It’s possibly better if we stay in town so we have plenty of sun for tomorrow to travel. And I’m taking you to the beach either way. Besides, it’s the little things that matter the most in life, and you’ll thank me for this once it’s all over.

He turns to the man as he heard him chuckle. Listening to him as he tells him, that this is the first time he was about of the castle since he became part of the court. He might as well take advantage of it. Oh how he wanted to. To him he wants to explore every stop they make. Go to local shop and feel their wares or try dishes made in the town alone. He wants to do what Faasnu had said, but it was different for him. He did not want to let so many lives down. If they can stop the vision before the vision happen, then there will be less blood no his hand or so he thought and feel. If he could not stop it, then all the lives that were taken will be his fault.

At the same time though, who knows what would happen once this is all and over with. For all he knew he would just get a pat on the back and then be locked away again. Just the thought on that alone brought a tight feeling to his chest. Grabbing some of the fabric of his robe and gave it a squeeze. He does not mind working for the king and helping with his vision but he is human, he had needs, he had desires. His mind was a mess and was already starting to feel a little overwhelmed.

Elvar was brought back to reality as he heard the larger male's voice telling him of his plans. With the blindfold over his eyes he can never tell what time it was. For his eyes were far to sensitive to light. So he had no idea that the sun was going down. It seemed that they had just left the caster and that was still daytime. Has the time really pass that quickly to him. If it keeps up with this paste, the journey would feel much short then it was. Though what really surprise him was that he was going to take him tot he beach either way. It was hard to tell but his eyes were right open under the piece of fabric.

By this point he would of been told flat out no and ask not to speak of it again and be send to his chamber. Yet this man wanted to take the time and stop to see the beach. "Well, if you want to go then I will not complain." he tells him in a calm voice. As long as he wants to do it then it's not really his selfish wishing or that's what he was telling himself. Still a big smile appeared on his face and bare feet were wiggling around with pent up energy. Excited that they will go down tot he beach.

There you go, I want to go. You just unfortunately have to tag along.” Faasnu Gein looked over at the kid and noticed the smile on his face. Something about it made him feel happy, and he got a kick out of seeing the kid happy. Neither one knew what the outcome of this journey would be, so all that mattered was making it a memorable one, no matter what happened in the end of it all. Faasnu Gein looked over out the window, still seeing a good amount of daylight, but not enough to continue the ride after this. Prowling the roads at night was a stupid idea, unless you were a highway man or some rouge bandit. The dragonkin would know this from experience, seeing as how he used to be on both side of that fence. If his time with his band of misfits taught him anything, it’s that there is always someone to rough around for a bit more extra gold. He wouldn’t say he regretted anything he did, but he sure had a feeling that dishonest work would soon be behind him once this was over.

The ride soon came to a stop, and a knock at the carriage door was heard. Faasnu Gein placed a hand on the boy’s shoulders, as to motion him to hold his seat. The dragonkin opened the door and stepped out to see the carriage rider there and not far from them was the fishing port they were to go to. A guard stood next to the rider asking for verification. Faasnu Gein looked inside the carriage and pointed at the boy. One of the buckles on the boy robe had the insignia of the royal family, which instantly prompted the guard to allow them passage. Faasnu Gein reach in, gently pulling on the boy hand. “Elvar, were here. Before and watch your step.” Faasnu Gein held both of the boy’s hands and led him out of the carriage, guiding him off the steps and safety onto the ground. “Come on, let’s head towards the inn. The king said we were supposed to meet an informant there who knew about some artifact that could possibly help against the coming danger.

The walk towards the inn was not a long one, but the shocked expressions and confused stares really made the trek seem longer than it did. Faasnu Gein was used to them, but it still always bothered him. The dragonkin felt no real danger, seeing as how the village was no so big that they might be housing some underground bandit ring; again, he would know. Soon enough, they made it towards the inn and both stepped in. Faasnu gein allowing Elvar to step in first before him.

It wasn’t until they were in, that he really felt like all eyes were on them. The inn double as a tavern, so there were men and women enjoy drink and food, but when you see a six foot, eight inches dragonkin walk in with a five foot three inches seer, eyes were bound to divert towards you. It kind of pissed the dragonkin off, but as long as no one confronted them, he would be content to live and let live. Faasnu Gein looked around trying to see if he could see this informant, but he couldn’t see anyone that resembled a agent of the king. Still, daytime was coming to an end and rest was a welcomed idea. “Let’s go get a room for the night. We can head out in the morning.” Faasnu Gein walked over towards the counter with the boy in hand and waved at the inn keeper. There was a bit of fear welling up in the man as Faasnu Gein’s sight seemed to intimidate him. “How may I help you, sir?

I need a room for the night, please. How much will it be?” Of course, before he could fetch for his gold, the person sitting next to him brought out some gold and laid it flat on the counter. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it.” The mysterious stranger turned their head to reveal a young women with copper hair and fair skin. She was the king’s agent and to Faasnu Gein’s surprise, an old accomplice.

Once in the room, Faasnu Gein sat Elvar down on the bed and turned back towards Dagger. “What are you doing here?” She took the seat next to the desk and chuckled. “I could ask the same thing. I thought you were busy breaking the law and such.

I got caught, now I’m working for his highness. And I guess you’re the agent he said we were supposed to look for?” She flashed her ‘badge’ and then looked at Elvar. She got up and walked over towards the young seer and brushed the flecks of hair from his face. “I suppose you are the one.

He couldn't help but to softly chuckle as he tells him that it was just unfortunate for him that he had to tag along. Though like he said he was not going to complain. As long as it was his will, then he will follow. Still he couldn't wait to explore the beach. Wondering all that he can feel and hear. Maybe, he could find a little something he can bring back with him. He was not going to make a big deal out of it but he wants to collect as many things as well that could not be easily found back home. In a way it will remind him of this journey and remember that this was not a dream.

As the carriage stopped he stumbled a bit in his seat and heard the knock at the door. Have they already arrived? It seemed that they left not to long ago. He then felt something large on his shoulder and assume it was Faasnu's hand. Getting up from his seat and stood at the entry way of the carriage. Feeling a gentle breeze on his face. He got a stronger whiff of the ocean water since they were closer. It was a nice scent to him he wants to remember it for the rest of his life.

Just then he felt his hand once more but only this time it was wrapped around his much smaller, warm, silky soft hand. He was told they arrived to the port and to watch his step as they exit out of the carriage. It has been awhile since he rode in one of them. He grabbed his staff, making sure not to leave that behind. For it does help him with walking around. He then felt both his large hands grabbing him and there was a soft blush on his face. He just wonders how big he was.

Once he was on the ground he had the bottom of the staff on the ground and lean his head up towards Faasnu as if he was looking at him. "Thank you." he said in a polite tone. For he had forgotten just how high carriages can be. If not for him he would of most likely stumble. He was told that they should head for the inn and meet with the informant. He nods his head and follows beside him, tapping the staff against the ground.

As they enter the port. He can hear the waves crashing onto land. It was so loud, but so peaceful. The seagulls were squawking much louder then when they were on the road. This of course brought a smile to his face. He can also hear the chattering of the village people talking to one another. He can even hear some of the conversation between them. Mostly trying to stroke a deal with the merchants, but it was nice to hear other people and daily life. Somethign he rarely got back home.

Soon they arrived to the inn. It was a lot more noisy then he thought it would be. With his eye sight gone his other senses were strong and hearing can pick up sounds a lot better then most others. Still it beat the quietness of the castle. Though he can not see he can fee the eyes on the two of them. This was most strange. Then again he is use to people looking at him because they came to see him. It feels much stranger coming to a new place where people don't expect you.

Faasnu suggest they book a room for the evening and be well rested for tomorrow. He nods his head thinking that would be a good idea. Following him up to the counter. He stood beside him as the inn keeper asked them how he can help. Sensing the fear from him. Knowing it was because of Faasnu. Though eh wondered if it was because of his size or if he had a bigger rep then he though with being a criminal. Since he was no used to asking people what he want from them. He let the other deal with the inn keeper.

After he made the request for the room and asked for the cost. He heard the thump and dinging of metal slam against the counter. A new voice informed them that they will be paying for their room. Which made him turn his head to face where the voice was coming from. While he thought that was really kind, it was most strange.

The inn keeper handed them the key to their room which was on the second floor and face the water.
