A thread insignia- flames

I noticed the envelope oridnarily beside a thread, (concerning one of mine) is encoated in flames. What error does this represent, provided so?

A coinciding poster claimed he'd responded... and none appeared.
It implies malfunction to the thread.

The flaming envelope means that that thread either has more than 30 replies or 500 views. If you click on a category under the forums, the the lower left corner of that page shows icons that tells you what all the envelopes mean.
