A Night To Remember (Limited to two)

Along endless stretch of beach night was slowly closing in it. The slim, almost beam like rays of golden sun light began to vanish beneath the dark, still waters of the ocean. The reds, and light orange hues of the twilight sky slowly becoming fading to black. It was the telling sign Joshua needed to let him know that his day of surfing was at an end. With little other choice, he dried off and grabbed the towel he left further up on the dry sand. A simple good by to his friends still swimming in the evening waters, and he slipped his bare feet into his sandals.


Once off the beach, the Joshua found himself walking an old dirt path cutting along deep over brush, and hight hanging palm trees. An old, beaten path used by those who knew the way to this secret swim spot. Pure water as away from the annoyances of tourist, and venders who would normally make a day at the beach unbearable. All in all, it was a mostly secluded spot fit for someone like him, a spot which kept all unwelcome visitors away.

A boy sat on the edge of the pool in the secret spot, his feet dangling in the water.

He had discarded his shirt, and was smoking a cigarette and sipping a flask of vodka. He heard someone coming, and stood up. "I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't realise anyone else knew about this place..."

Joshua stopped dead in his tracks.

He carefully observed the boy as he tried to put a name to the face. It only took moments for his to realize that he had not idea who the boy was. His first instinct was to just leave the boy along to his own devices...but something managed to override that one. In stead, he slowly approached.

"It's okay." The clam inflection in his voice hid the bubbling suspicion within his body. "What's you name?"

"Stephen... Stephen Beckett. And you?" Steve replied, holding out his hand, dropping his cigarette and stomping it out.

Defeinaintly a tourist...but somethings off about him

Joshua flashed a smile.

"Names Joshua Fielding" he answered.

He slowly extended his hand, grasping in a firm, but still confertible shake. "Are you new around here?"

"Me? Oh... Yes. I suppose you could say that." Steve replied shiftily. "And you?"

"Oh, no" Joshua said dissmissevly. "I've been coming here even since I could remember" says. "Which is why I can't figure out how you found this place...ususaly only those who live on the island can find this place".

Joshua looks around the secluded pool to make sure he was alone...and it appeared so.

"I... I don't know. I just sort of found it. I've been coming here every chance I got."

Joshua tried to find any other method to extract more information from the new arrival, but found that it was pretty useless. It seemed that he had found a way to get here. Something like this was bound to happen, and he seemed that he was cool enough.

"Mind if I join you?" he asked the boy.

Steve shrugged. "Free country, isn't it? At least, last I checked."
