Adriel looked up to the clock as it sang eleven. The street lamp outside flickered uncertainly as he growled through his teeth. Today had been a particularly busy day, not that he was feeling ungrateful. The store had been filled with the weekend crowd, and even at this time people were still coming up to the door, wishing that they could enter, only to be firmly told that it was closed.

It can't be helped. I have to live too.

Well, it was certainly much better than having been a slave as a scientific officer in his last job. Now he could just sit back and enjoy books like he had always wished to, typing scripts when he was bored, and drawing when he was immensely so. The past few days, however, had been interesting and scary.

Adriel had a stalker.

Initially he hadn't noticed, but as the week wore past he began seeing the same face over and over again. Sometimes he would be a mere flash pas his sight, and others he would just remain there, stoic and still. And over the days Adriel had grown paranoid. As he closed the door and locked the shutter behind him, he couldn't help but take a precautionary glance around him. He didn't want to be caught in a situation where his strength and speed would give him away. All he wanted was to be in this society, accepted as a normal person. The last thing he needed was to fling a stalker several miles away through the air and tear his head off.

His breath drew mist in the air as he wrapped the maroon trenchcoat tighter around him, stalking off down the street. The sooner he got home the better.

generally sweet and kind, even when hunting. His father was killed by a rogue vampire, and he vowed revenge.

Lloyd shivered, and hid behind a pillar. 'Shit... He nearly saw me' he thought, blushing.

His thoughts went to hypothesies of what could happen if he was caught. On the one hand, the vampire could rip his head off. On the other, he could accept him as the lover he had always wanted.

'Probably the former.' he thought 'this is crazy! I shouldn't be in love with a...'

Adriel breathed deeper. The scent of humans all around him made him feel overwhelmed, but there was one particular scent that stood out, one that he recognised, one that made a vein pop out in irritation as he scanned his surroundings.

That stalker... his mind wandered. It's that smell. The smell of human with the taint, the ones who dirty themselves to drink OUR blood. Where the hell is he hiding?!

His eyes finally settled on a shadow that was out-of-place, one which had no body, but was merged into that of a pillar. Hiding, I see... Adriel sighed, before turning on his heel and walking towards his house yet again. He didn't want to make a scene, but this time, Adrielresolved that if this stalker followed him to his apartment, he would confront the man with all the civility of a human being. He started scripting the questions to the continuous click of his shoes on the concrete. Who was he? Why had he been following him? What did he want?

But on the other hand, things could turn ugly. Perhaps he obtained the taint by accident, but most of the time it was intentionally taken as part of the rite to become one of THEM, one who hunted those like Adriel. Now Adriel felt even more paranoid, holding the scalpel in his pocket even tighter. This is stupid, I could rip off the head of a human, yet I'm holding onto a scalpel for protection? He quickened his footsteps, muffling the sound of the heel so that he could hear anyone following him, running towards the apartment block that was his, feeling some sense of irrational fear throb in his head.

'Crap!' Lloyd thought to himself 'That was the worst possible hiding space I could have thought of. Oh, well.'

He continued to follow the vampire, making sure to keep his distance.

Adriel headed up to the door, but he could smell that scent, stronger, more prominent. It blew upwind to where he was. This street was emptier, but he would have to make a public showing.

Just think it this way. I'll probably never see any of these people ever again, he thought, trying to console himself as he stepped towards the scent, letting his instincts drive him as he ran a tongue over his fangs. Might as well get rid of the trouble if it continued to look for him. He walked slowly, with purpose as it started to overwhelm his senses, making him feel irrationally angry.

Calm, calm... he told himself as his fist shook harder with every step he took.

"Hey!" Lloyd shouted, when he and Adriel were alone together. "Don't worry, I'm unarmed, I just want to talk to you."

WHAT?! Adriel was sent screeching to a halt as he heard that voice. What kind of stalker shouts that they were unarmed? So, shit. Is he a hunter? But the taint smells too strong for him to have been a victim...

This time, Adriel did not run, but crept cautiously towards the now lonesome figure. "If you merely wish to talk, then pray tell, why have you been stalking me?"

"I just want to talk." Lloyd said. "I've been watching you..."

"Well, about what? And how long is it going to take?" Adriel sighed, finally coming to a standstill. It was the first time he had seen the man up close. His blue eyes shone under the glare of streetlight, making Adriel shiver as he took in the sight of those piercing orbs and the taint in his scent. "If you've got something to explain, then we might as well go in," he said, nodding towards his apartment.

Lloyd nodded, and followed the man into his apartment. He knew he was a vampire, so a sense of danger crept in with the eroticism.
