Broken Home, Saix and Shizukan.
Shizu stepped to the door, his face the usual mask of sternness, slightly older features serious and somber. His clothes reflected his state, dark colors, a long sleeve shirt that hung slightly loose on his broad shoulders and tall frame, dark pants belted around the waist. He wasn't a particularly angry or bad person, he just didn't feel much joy in his life, much happiness. He didn't show his feelings, but he certainly had them. It was those feelings that brought him to Aku's door. The boy had been the son of Shizu's closest friend, and more importantly, the son of the woman...who.. Well, a woman of importance to Shizu . When Aku's parents had died, shizu had sworn to protect and look after the boy. He never realized how much that would come to mean to him.
What little joy was in Shizu's life, came from these visits.
He raised his hand and knocked three times, loud and sharp, on aku's door.

Aku was reading his book on the living room couch silently. He was wearing a light peach shirt, and a pair sweatpants, black and white striped lines on the side. Aku continued to read his book, "Cirque Du Freak," which was his favorite novel at the time. It helped keep his mind off of the events of the past that made him depressed at the most. Untill his train of thoughts were broken by a knocking on his door. Aku stood up from the brown leather couch, and slowly walked over to the wooden door that seperated him from the visitor. Aku slowly opened the door with a creaking sound making sure who it was at their door step.
Only to see his usual visitor who brought him comfort in his time of need. He made Aku feel so much less lonely in his house. Aku did have friends, but Aku preferred the presence of this man the most.

That solemn face broke with just the smallest smile, but his eyes reflected both affection and sadness. Aku always brought a mix of emotions for him. Aku reminded Shizu of Aku's mother. It was confusing, sad, and yet brought joy to Shizu'a heart unlike an other. He reached out his hand on aku's shoulder, giving a familiar squeeze.
"Aku, are you well today?"
Shizu walked into the home, looking around, starting his usual litany of questions. Was aku remembering to lock the door. Had he done his laundry, grocery shopping. Shizu fussed over the younger Aku, making sure he was taking care of himself. He turned, looking back at aku, gazing at him a moment. Aku was full of such...kindness and caring. Shizu was hard, jaded. Only Aku could make him soften.
"I wanted to check on you, and thought perhaps you might want company for dinner. Try your latest creation?"
He looked down at the novel. They both shared a love of reading, although Shizu had littl time for it.
"Still reading this? Or are you on your second read through now?"

Aku was warmed at the short feeling on his shoulder. Aku smiled sweetly at Shizu as he responded with a quick nod. His usuall bombardment of questions never actually bothered him. It actually gave Aku something to look up to every day. .
"My second read."
Aku responded holding the book up, a bit emberrased that it was the second time that he was reading this book. He didn't know why, but he just did.
"I also made some Kirby Cake Pops as well if you wanted to try them. They have these ..."
Aku continued to talk about the desserts he made with such joy, being able to share the creations with someone. Aku had someone to share latest creations instead of having to keep it to himself. Aku loved receiving criticism to improve his cooking and baking.

Shizu broke another small smile, giving another shoulder squeeze. There was such warmth when he was around the younger man. It was the only time Shizu felt...comfortable. He nodded gently.
"Well I suppose there are worse habits you could have than being addicted to books. They keep you out of trouble."
He grew silent and listend to Aku speak. He was his parents son, a master of food and cooking, where Shizu was quite poor at it, and didn't fully grasp half of what Aku was saying. Just like the conversations Shizu used to have with Aku's mother. Shizu had always lived a solitary life, not much for romance. But Aku's mother had made him feel things he never felt for anyone. Until now. As Aku had developed into the lovely young man he had become, kind and shy, but loyal and true, Shizu started to feel those feelings stirring again. It was strange, and yet he couldn't deny how he felt, although he was certain Aku would be appaled to learn of these twinges of feeling. He looked into Aku's eyes as he finished explaining the pops.
"Of course, you know I always want to try your cooking."

Aku's heart skipped a beat once again when he felt Shizu's hand on his shoulder, squeezing it. Shizu did this most of the times he came over, making Aku feel needed in a way. Aku has had feelings for Shizu for a while now, but he believes that his love for Shizu would cause their precious friendship to go to waste.
Aku giggled a bit when he heard Shizu compliment his cooking. Well, technically his cooking. Aku didn't notice himself but everytime Shizu complimented him on subjects such as the cooking, he always did this small giggle. But when others complimented him on stuff, he only smiled lightly and nodded his head.
"Thank you."
Aku responded after finishing his short giggle with a smile.
"Now, enough of my rambling. Would you like something to drink or eat? I'll prepare some snacks or drinks if you want."
Aku asked Shizu while motioning him to the sofa.

Those giggles were so charming, and Aku's sweet mannerisms cut through Shizu's normally gruff exterior. Charcoal eyes shined with a gleam they only had for Aku, and he slid down into the couch.
"If you want to fix something. Surprise me Aku"
He ran his hand through his dark hair, something he only did when he was relaxed. He admired aku as the younger man moved about. His gaze wasn't entirely innocent, as he found himself admiring the soft features of the other's form in a way that caused an unusual stirring within him. He didn't fully understand these hints of urges as they came to him, and often he brushed them aside as nothing, and yet they always came back.
"Do you need anything Aku? Do you need any help with anything?"
Shizu was always taking care of Aku and anything he needed done

Aku looked at Shizu at the perfect moment, in his opinion, to see him fix his hair. It seemed as if he was shining. Aku went back to reality, understood and began walking over to the kitchen. He began gathering the materials for the food he was about to make, a Strawberry Cream Parfait. He took out several ingredients ; strawberries, granola bars, yogurt, and whipped cream. He took up Shizu's offer as well.
"Do you mind helping me wash and cut some of the strawberries please?"
Aku asked in a tone similar to his mother's.
"If you want, could you help me clean, and cut the strawberries in half?"
As Aku said that, he himself started to work by crushing several granola bars with a sort of hammer for food. He made sure to ceush them into little chunks for the dessert.

He stood as Aku asked for help, the tone striking something deep within. He pushed it aside. Shizu rolled up his sleeves a bit up those strong forearms, then washed his hands and started to wash the strawberries. He fumbled a bit, as they were slick, and then he put them on the board to cut. He wasn't very good at this, and he was doing a terrible job at making half cuts, the misshaped remains of the strawberries were rather comical. Shizu was sure and confident in almost any situation. The kitchen, however, was an exception. His brow furrowed, and he tried harder to cut smoother and get better halves. It was a small thing perhaps, but he didn't like doing a bad job when someone else was depending on him, an those dark eyes focused intently upon the task at hand.

Aku looked over to see how Shizu was progressing with the strawberries. Once he looked over, he saw that he had been having troubles cutting them in half. Aku let the hammer down to the side of the board, and gently placed a hand onto his forearm. He laughed a bit and smiled when he began to talk.
"If you want, we could trade cooking jobs to make it easier for the both of us."
Aku notioned back to where he was crushing the granola bars, only to get one and a half poorly crushed into bits. He smiled emberassed.
