This is a really sore subject for me. I'm a circumcised American, and I'm really upset that my parents let a doctor maim and mutilate me like that. It is a barbaric and unnecessary procedure that, I don't care what anyone says, is very traumatic to the psyche of a boy, even if he was a baby and doesn't remember the pain. Does that mean it's okay to put a human being through torture since they won't remember it? To me that's more akin to, "Oh, I raped her/him but they were unconscious because I slipped them a roofie, so they won't remember it anyway. It's fine...."
If you have seen a video of the procedure and see all what it entails, you would know that it's not just matter of clipping a bit of extra skin off. It's much more than that. In a newborn male, the foreskin is actually fused to the glans only to start separating and being able to be pulled back around puberty. So, they first have to take a blunt object and jam it in and all around to force the foreskin away from the glans( which both the glans and the inner foreskin are actually mucous membrane, like the inside of your mouth, anus, vagina, etc...), then they do other unspeakable things, while the baby screams in sheer agony for around 15 minutes or more.
Yeah, and the idea that "Well, my grandfather, father, and myself are all circumcised," and "It just looks so much better," and "We don't want him to look 'different' than the other boys at school(which is what my friend said when I urged her to keep her boy intact a few months ago)," are all terrible reasoning and superficial logic at best. Since the majority of circumcisions in America are cosmetic, it is the man who should decide what, if anything, to change about their natural body, not the parents. More and more doctors are actually refusing to perform circumcisions, as they are unnecessary for a healthy male.
I'm sorry, but that is how we are born, if it wasn't meant to be there, every single healthy male in the world wouldn't be born intact. It doesn't decrease the chance of disease by any significant margin. When I hear about this argument I think, "Well why don't we just go ahead and kill the baby. Imagine how many health problems we could prevent that way." Not really and maybe that is hyperbole, but it's just an example of the bad logic.
If I were intact, my glans would still be mucous membrane and not drying, toughening, and cracking (it happens when mucous membrane is exposed and rubs against clothing, etc..), which is what happens to cut guys even in their 20's. How does that look better? I wouldn't have had 15,000 nerves chopped off my love organ, and I would have much more sensation.
If any of the lot of straight females or males in here are having a baby or planning it, I urge you to take a look at a site that informs you of the risks of what you would be putting your baby boy through. They deserve to at least be able to make the decision on their own, whether to mutilate their bodies or not. Please mothers, fathers, and doctors; we are beautiful and perfect the way God/nature made us.

The above link is clinical and for educational purposes. My apologies if I've overstepped any bounds, but hey, the OP asked.

I just feel like I need to do what I can to save as many human beings as possible from a dreadful, traumatic, barbaric procedure.
