Heart in the mist [private for me and Amethystaura]

John flinched and looked around, recognizing Garys voice. He smiled back, nodding.
"Yes. And this..", he showed the book. ".. someone left here. It's quite funny actually. The book I mean.. What are you having for lunch?"

[Amethystaura]

"Chicken clear soup. Something light yet filling. Sorry if I disturbed you, go on right back to reading," Gary smiled. "But only after you tell me what you're having."

John thought it would be nice to eat lunch with Gary and that he could sit with him but couldn't say it. He did not want to impose his presence on Gary, and he knew that other man would have agreed even if it wasn't what he wanted.
"I'm having tortellini in cheese sauce and chocolate pound cake plus some tea."

[Amethystaura]

"Sounds heavy. But delicious too. Quite the opposite of what I'm having. Hey, if you aren't reading right now, you could come join me here. But if you're reading, it's ok."

He smiled softly and nodded when Gary proposed to join him. Taking his plates he sat down at the others table.
"And tortellini isn't really that heavy..", he stated, looking at Gary with his black eyes.

Gary laid his elbows on the table. "Surprise surprise, I've never had it. I guess if I like the look of it, I'll order one myself."

He looked into John's black eyes with his own amber eyes, noting the lovely dark hue in them.

"You've always worn glasses?"

"Tertellini are ring-shaped pasta.. Look on my plate. They are typically stuffed with a mix of meat.. pork loin, prosciutto.. or cheese", he instructed.
John smiled at the question about glasses.
"Yes. I started when I was about seven.. and now I'm so used to them that sometimes I forget to take them off before going to sleep."

"They look delicious! Wish I could try some..."

Gary's stomach growled as the young girl came along and placed a bowl of chicken clear soup in front of him. He smiled gratefully at her and paid the amount, watching as she flushed and went away. He picked up his spoon, took a spoonful, blew on it to cool it and then put it in his mouth.

"Wholesome," he commented, hungrily eating quickly. Soon he'd finish. "How's your tortellini?"

John chuckled when the girl went away.
"Always making woman want you.. you're so bad", he said shaking his head.
He finished his meal leaving few untouched tortellini on the side.
"I swear they weren't touched by my fork so if you want to try it feel free.. if not I'll eat them."

Gary grinned at John like a little child, before picking up one tortellini with his fork and not touching the rest. He put it in his mouth, savouring it.

"It's delicious. Next time I come here, I'll buy this. Here, you have the rest. Thanks!"
