Well, it had worked. L wasn't talking anymore, and now he could think clearly. And think clearly he did, trying to form some kind of plan to get off this chain. When he felt hopeless panic he started playing with decimals and fractions in his head until he was calm, then was plotting again. All the while he put up a front, pretending he was working hard to catch Kira. The same old tiring thing.... And it could not be denied that he was exhausted. And that didn't mean that he wasn't sleeping... Though that was true. No, he was exhausted of life in general, if that made sense.

It was all catching up to him. Maintain an A+ average, be the perfect son and brother, not to mention a star tennis athlete. Play the role of a charming young man to the females at school, his father expected no less. Work on the Kira case, careful not to give away too much or too little, and all the while try to evade L discovering everything. Live day by day with the knowlege that very soon, he was going to have to kill the only friend he ever had. Why? Because he had Followers to take care of, good people that needed protection from evil. He was Kira, their God, and they needed him.... Oh, everyone needed him, whether or not they actully wanted him.

And he would never, ever admit it, not even to himself... But deep down, he secretly wished that someone else would take over. He didn't want the burden of choice, and if someone made his decisions for him, he'd be relieved. And the constant mask he had to keep up was draining him of his true self, and if someone were to break the carade, it's be a weight off his shoulders. But if he had to lose his composure and self control and feel something, it would be the most terrifying thing in the world. The intensity would just be too much. Giving over control to someone else was just not an option. So he burried the yearnings of wanting someone strong to take care of him for a change. Such feelings were trouble and would only hurt him in the long run, of that he was certain. And he certainly wasn't going to drown in self pity, not when so many.... needed him... and needed him.... Oh, it wouldn't ever be enough.

He started to divide numbers by Pi, and it distracted him from his pesky thoughts for a while.

L might have hushed on the questions, but he hadn't stopped his thoughts. Glancing over at Light every now and then, watching him for a long moment before shifting his attention to the papers. He was trying to seem like he wasn't peeking on the other, and for the most part he wasn't so it was very much possible that Light wouldn't notice. Then again, Light was a very smart boy...Though he did seemed a bit....distracted by something else. 'So...Shinigami's...Apples, that had to be some kind of message..I'm sure he'll slip at some point...but until then I guess there's nothing more I can do' He said with a silent sigh. This was proving to be more problematic. He needed something to work on here.

Ever sense he'd bound Light to him, L hadn't gotten anything knew to work with really. He was starting to wonder if that was simple because the files of most criminals were kept under his own lock and key, with no one else to access them...or what. " I have an Idea....I'd like to know what you think Light-kun" he finally said turning around to face the other, the chain giving a small clank as hit it something. "You see. I have a feeling that This...Kira only needs to see ones face....then they are killed. I'd like to test this out..." he said with a nod. "If they are able to kill said person with just the information of his face..then that will be a wrap...but if not, then....maybe something more is needed." he said nodding.

He did his best not to tense noticably. "You think Kira can kill just by looking at someone? Well, not the worst thing you've come up with, so it couldn't hurt to give it a shot." He said, head tilted. He was partly relieved the conversation was back, keeping him from the thoughts that betrayed him. But he was mostly apprehensive, because L was... close. If he had already figured out he needed a face, it wouldn't be long before other things started to fall together. And if L managed to finish the puzzle, his Followers and all the innocent, good people of the world would surely be doomed. He couldn't let that happen. "But tell me, exactly how do you plan to test this hypothesis of yours?" He asked, curious despite himself.

L gave a grin. "Well, I'm going to let you go for one." he said holding up a key. "I've been planning on it for a while. Despite what you think, I do like to bathe alone" he said with a nod as he began to unlock the cuffs. "After that, I'll inform everyone what I plan tomorrow..but before then...Head home for some rest okay? You surly need it...being sense you look so dreadfully tired." he said. 'And if anyone happens to die before tomorrow, then I'll have my suspicion known.' He thought to himself as he turned to face away from the other. His thumb moving up to his lips as he chewed on it slightly looking over more papers.

Light rubbed his wrist. It felt odd without the weight, the attachment. And as soon as that thought crossed his mind, he knew he really needed sleep.

"Thanks." He stood up, stretching. "It'll be good to sleep.... better to shower.... a joy to see Mum and Sayu again." Okay, he wasn't stupid. He knew the risk of killing anyone or even doing anything suspicious was too high, so Misa's lazy pattern of killing would have to do. He really wished she were more motivated, but he felt he was the one letting the world down. This was, after all, his responsibility. Speaking of which, planting another seed of innocence couldn't hurt. "You get some rest too." He said to L, putting on a concerned tone. "I mean it. Despite what you think, you've grown on me. And I really don't want you dropping from exhaustion. See you tomarrow."

He didn't want to think about it as he left, but his caring tone and concerned words had not been as much of an act as he would have liked.

L let out a small snort as Light left. "Good bye Light" he said as the other headed out the door. He waited for a few minutes alone in the dark, spinning back and forth on his chair as he sighed. "Well...lets see how things turn out.." he said as he flipped through some papers. "Now All I need to do is set the trap...and see who takes the bate" he said. Reaching for the phone, he dialed the number for Lights father, "Hey...Lights on his way home...Hush, he's cleared" he lied, "good night" with that he went off, heading for his bedroom.

Light was happy to be embrace by his mother and sister, and that siad alot, because it was rare he allowed even them to hug him. And he was elated to be back in his room, his wonderful wonderful room. He even welcomed Ryuk's chatter and taunts. Home sweet home.
But if he had to choose two words to describe Heaven, he'd would choose HOT and SHOWER.

The water cleansed him, inside and out, and he was finally calm. No one expected anything of him in the shower. It was just him as naked, real and honest Light, and the water carressing him soothingly.

L himself was enjoying his peace alone. His hand reaching up to hold onto his neck as he tilted it slightly. He was so worn for his own good. Sure it was his own fault, having locked the boy to him..But really, he wasn't able to hold on any longer. "God forbid him being to sexy" he sighed as he started the steaming shower. He stepped in and leaned back, letting the water loosen him up, his body still partly hunched as he reached for the soaps and began to clean up. "So Tomorrow when every ones there, I'll completely clear Lights name, and go on air and declare myself a threat to Kira...We'll see what happens." he said nodding. This 'he' will happen to be Light along side him...Now if Light would go through with it.

Now, you would think that with such relief of being alone for a while in his familiar bedroom would make sleeping easy. But somehow, it was harder. He supposed he had just gotten used to the warm presence beside him. If this arrangement became permanent and Light was truly free of the cuffs, then after a few nights he'd be okay. To pass the minutes... hours... night... He talked quietly to Ryuk, who was happy to make fun of him being on 'L's leash'.

The next Morning, L seemed a bit odd. One would think that after a healthy shower and some 'alone time' he'd be all knew again. But he seemed....annoyed about something. He muttered something about being stupid for letting light Go so easy...But it was what he had to do in order to get to this point. He needed Light to think he'd gotten away..that he wasn't in questioning anymore. "So, I've called you all here for a reason." he finally said looking around the room, he saw light and his father, and a few other men. "As of last night, Light has fully surprised my judgment and is no longer a key suspect in this case..." he said. "He's free to any information now." He said nodding. "And later this afternoon, he and myself will go upon television and declare our selves Kira's enemy..."
