Video Games Character Pimping
Shameless games and character pimping. For those unfamiliar with certain AWESOME games... for example, I know nothing of the Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts series save for the looks of a few of the characters. =\ Anybody care to enlighten me~?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4CM0cA_IeE = Tenchu: Shinobi Taizen. The most recent of the Tenchu series, and coming to PSP, which I can't and won't buy. ;_; Which is sad because I love Tenchu, Add'ua, the artists who make the soundtrack, andand... all the characters have gotten a makeover (aside from stinky old Rikimaru [silver/gray haired] who must think he's too good for it – oh, he has pretty gray eyes rather than black, actually...)... Ayame (girl with hair tied up) looks so pretty. *_* And Tatsumaru (guy with long black hair almost shrouding his eyes) is very bishounen... and Tesshu (guy on rock) has no pants on... and Onikage (guy fighting Rikimaru) doesn't look like Marilyn Manson anymore... I want. -_- I like to ship Ayame and Rin, Rikimaru and Tatsumaru, or Rikimaru and Tesshu, or Rikimaru and anything. => Ninja need much love.
I kinda feel sorry for those nameless ninja, though... I mean, they were just on their way home, minding their own business, and they get attacked by crazy ninja and an assassin doctor. Sucks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GaU5N1ofEc = Shinobido: Imashime. This game is so damn hard! X_x I don't really get to play games unless I have somebody with me, but... still, I REALLY struggle with this. ._.; Plus, the dub version is amusing as they chose to use British voices... the guards are cockney - "Oh, 'eck! There 'e is! Up th' apples n' pears to kidnap the Guv'ner's trouble n' strife!" It sounds really... bah. I guess that's why they are called voice talents rather than voice actors. Nevertheless! The main characters and their designs are wonderful. I ship Goh the Crow and Zaji the Hawk together, because... well... it's so obvious. Sadly Zaji isn't in the opening, so, here is a games artist extract-

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts is the story of a boy, a dog, and a duck, as they try to find the boy's boyfriend and girlfriend, and the mousie friend of the dog and duck.
Er.
Actually, it's lot more complicated than that, and I could probably go on for some hours on the topic, and wish I had time to, but. Er. Con prep.
I just couldn't resist making this reply.

I am digging the opening music for Shinobido. :O Amazing cutscenes. What system is this for? *looks at dwindling money with an evil grin* Zaji's character design is pretty awesome too...actually, they all are.
I'm going to die for saying this, but I'm not gonna enlighten anyone on Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. I like 'em, but they're always loved. Everyone's favorite game is always a FF character, everyone's favorite company is Square, everyone's favorite composer is Square (uh, yeaaaaah, sure...), everyone's favorite game is KH/FF/ANYTHING by Square...hearing it from some people is fine, but...x_x All the time? From most people? Especially when you feel that there are better games, characters, companies...and composers have actual person names, not a company name. xD
I can't believe I dared say that out loud.
Basically...Kingdom Hearts is like one big crossover fanfic but the fangirls and fanboys are pissed cuz it crossed over Disney.
Having finished Xenosaga Episode III and concluding that little obsession that birthed three weeks ago, that's totally on my mind. xD Probably will be in my top ten series. xD If that count even reaches ten...
You've got me curious about Shinobido now though. The fact that it's hard probably doesn't appeal to me - I'm so sick of playing hard games I want something easy! But I've been drawn in...xD I think it's too late. Hard or not, it's got me. Hopefully it's affordable...used, won't take up my last $40... xD

Azermodehar, you are one teasing armadillo. >3 Why is the boy with the duck and the dog, huh? HUH?! Thank you for replying~!
Mushy – I know little of either, except that Sephiroth and Cloud are everybody's favourite guys, and Tifa is a popular lady (and apparently Yuffie is very popular with the sp-crowd). As for KH, I know that Donald and Goofy hang around with some random kid and look for Mickey. >_>;
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad that you liked the teaser of Shinobido~! I got my copy pre-owned, but it was still rather expensive – perhaps it's only available on the internet? I don't know. Anyway, it's for PS2, and you EVENTUALLY get the hang of it, although the game is really exasperatingly difficult at first. >_>; Zaji looks better in the game, I think (I love the Asuma uniform) – his hair is pretty, and his eyepatch is funky-cool.
Xenosaga...?

I can only find two copies of the Japanese version on ebay... T_T I can't play imported games unless it's on my handheld systems and on my PC (well, I can run Korean PC games anyhow). =( I looked it up only to find this:
"There is currently no planned North American release."
Well, no wonder the dub all has British accents....xD (I thought it might be like Drakengard.) The closest I can even get to the game is another title in the series that's on PSP. I don't know what relation it holds to the PS2 version...but I'm sad now. =(
Now I know what it feels like when someone I know is sad because Australia/Europe don't get games that are released in North America. x_x Not that I didn't sympathize before. D=
This is what I hate about not having a Japanese PS2 console...it really is time for me to buy one. I've longed to play a lot of Japanese PS2 games and couldn't. I can only pull that off on handhelds, since they don't have region coding. Though I should buy a European console too, and a Korean one...when I really think about it. And I COULD mod my PS2, but I don't know how...and no one I know does. =/
I think you've got FF and KH down pretty well...
Not that they aren't fun games, but they aren't for everyone, and some fans are so sold on them, they refuse to accept that other games, other RPGs, other COMPANIES exist. x_x
Xenosaga is...this game that I thought I hated because the beginning bored the crap out of me. xD I gave it one last try because I fell in love with the soundtracks, and decided I should get past the first hour of the game before discarding it. Two hours, three hours...I got so hooked I couldn't stop. x_X It's science fiction, and RPG series too. I loved the story, but not the games too much. Only the third game had a very likeable battle setup, and that was mostly when I got to use the ES's...the giant mecha battle weapons. ^___^ And use Erde Kaiser...that was fun. It was fun summoning a big transformer robot! Even if, in the first game, summoning it took about three minutes... (that was the whole fun).

Aaahhh! That really sucks, Mushy. ;_; That really... argh! Not fair, not fair at all... ._. I mean... the people who make Tenchu are the same as those who make Shinobido. Perhaps you could give Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven a try, instead? The opening video is more... Shinobido-like than the recent Tenchu clip I posted~! >_> [Pimps] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BooEO00VcsA
Ah, I love rpgs... possibly the most aside from the stealth-styled games ventured above. I adore going through the stories and falling in love with the characters that get caught up in said quest along the way. => Lots of fun. I know you haven't been able to play BoF3 or 4, but I sincerely enjoyed them. Although, of course, in all honesty I'm not much of a gamer, so I know little of the attractions that I should be advertising... O_o Dr. Weird and others said it the Aotk that the game (BOF3) was too long, so... meh, I like that. =D
... Anything with robots is sure to float my boat, Mushy. =D I think I've seen Xenosaga somewhere, but... I'll have to have a look around for it~!

The same people make both series? Well, at least hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the style and feel. I just checked, and Tenchu is definitely NTSC and fairly cheap. I might be able to find a local store with a copy of it.
*still wants Shinobido* >>;
I always like the expensive, hard-to-find games the most. xD It's no surprise I run into this problem of not being able to import. When income is more suitable, I think It's time to break down and buy a second PS2, mod it, and start importing.
I've had another friend mention the BoF series before, and I was interested then. I'm definitely a gamer and I love all types of games. I'm picky, though that doesn't spare me any money. Everything I seem to like, as you can tell, isn't exactly easy for me to get. xD
Meh, Magna Carta is a long game. *put over 130 hours into it* >>;
I don't mind short games, but if the long games are really good, it's definitely worth all that time. I like a game that is very interactive, as a plus.
Unfortunately, Erde Kaiser is only acquired at the end of the games in Xenosaga, and that's the fun robot...xD The third game has a seperate system altogether for your mecha, though, as does the second, and you have those pretty much throughout the game. The E.S.'s (the giant battle mecha you use) have the best battle system. In the first game you get the same thing, pretty much, but you have to transfer into them during regular battles and it uses up a turn, and if it loses HP in battle, it's out. x_X Xenosaga isn't exactly a user friendly series at first (took so much tuning and tweaking), but Erde Kaiser was so fun to summon, and the story and characters are actually what kept me glued.

Well, I have to be painfully honest with you... Shinobido is a far more interactive and thrilling game. In Tenchu you are a good ninja, and you serve justice and do good, in Shinobido, you have a choice to be trustworthy, benevolent, align yourself to your clan or to your Lord (of course, all decisions affect one of the many endings that you receive). Tenchu was the first game I ever played and fell in love with (on PS1), years and years ago, so admittedly, I have a soft-spot for it. >3
Hey... Hey wait! I know why you really want Shinobido...! I've been so blind! When all the time it was clear! ... You saw Goh's cool flowing scarf, didn't you? The way it flutters in the air like a stray raven looking over his shoulder... the way he always has it, no matter what... the way Zaji must use it as a bind when he must punish him.... >3
Magna Carta looks very complex, but also very visually appealing. The designs are gorgeous, and in themselves, would possibly attract me all on their own. x_x
Darn! That sounds like a little too much for my puny mentality to handle~! I know for a fact that if I can't get into a game within the first five minutes then I get all frustrated and start eating the controller... and the games system. >_>; Although, the promise of an exciting story and character development is exceedingly appealing... hmmm...

Well as awesome as Tenchu looks, Shinobido is the one that really caught my eye. The best I can do is maybe get the next one on the PSP by importing, and it still isn't the same game, so I don't think that'd satisfy my thirst... ^^; In fact, it may only make me long for the other game even more - that's usually what happens when I try that sort of thing. xD
You know, I didn't notice the scarf (well, maybe subconsciously, I did) even though the character designs caught my eye on top of the opening. ^_^ Though Goh's scarf is REALLY wicked looking. I love it...
Magna Carta is a tough series. The first game is a lot easier than the second, but it's Korean only/out of print. Luckily the second is in different languages but it's still hard and can wear on one's patience. ^^; But the designs and story are pretty, and I kind of liked the battles. It's the load times that really get to me. x_x
I tend to go back to games a lot because my first try isn't easy. I don't like getting frustrated within the first few moments of a game. In the end, I usually end up loving those series the most, but I think that's just because it hangs over me that I could have tasted this months/years sooner than I did... xD

I'd have to suggest the 'Tales of' games XD Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of the Abyss both.
