Wanted: Farm Hand (Miyumouse)

Name: Cal (calf herder)
Age: 15
Position: Uke
Looks:
Story: Lately the farm has been busy, or rather there is one in particular that's too much of a handful. The farm's cow has gotten to a rather troublesome age. He's hitting puberty and frankly that means he needs the sort of attention that the farmer, a married man, just can't give. There's another issue, since Cal wants more than his farmer can give the boy refuses to be milked, naturally that can become painful on not only his part but the farmer then is down one less way to provide for his family. See everyone has always had cow's milk to drink and when they found out that milk from a cow human hybrid was even healthier for them slowly the market's been switching over. It's expensive though but as such it's a very good way to earn money for those that sell it. This farm is one of those that has switched over from regular cow's milk to the hybrid form. But since Cal's getting temperamental the farmer needs help and the milk that the boy could produce would sell for enough to pay someone, pay for the upkeep of having Cal, and still make money for the family. So because of that this add has been posted.

Wanted!
Farm Hand
Gregory Ranch

Work requires you to work personally with a hybrid adolescent calf.

Call if interested.
555-2867
Notes: I know it may seem a weird plot to some and even I have to admit it's odd but for some reason I've really gotten a thing for cow's lately. Just remember although he can talk and everything they are still seen mostly as livestock. He sleeps in the barn (it is heated, don't worry), food is made for him and brought out, and most of the time he's tethered in his stall.

Name: Alan Kane
age: 20
position: seme
looks:
Bio: Alan grew up working on his parents ranch, which his father decided to sell before the advent of the hybrid cows. He always had a soft spot for the animals and was truly sad when one was sold or died.

After college he wanted to get back into working with animals and saw the posting in the paper and immediately applied.

Farmer Don looked at the kid in front of him. He'd been contacted by the boy yesterday about the position to do with his stubborn calf, Cal. The poor calf hadn't allowed him to milk him for almost a week now, he had to be in pain at this point, and just when he was thinking he'd be able to afford another calf this had to happen. Cal barely even let Don into the stall to feed him now let alone milk him. If his idea of a farm hand to work privately with only Cal didn't work out then there was no choice, calf would have to go to the slaughter house. Something Don didn't really want to do but his family couldn't afford to look after an animal that didn't earn his keep any longer.

"Have you worked on a farm before?" Don asked Alan. He might as well make it sound like he had options or something, even though he didn't. Alan was so far the only one to respond and he couldn't really leave Cal all blocked up much longer.

In the pen the calf was getting impatient. He liked his usual schedule, he was a little picky like that, and today he hadn't gotten his mid morning snack yet. Don had said something about talking to a nice boy about working with him on the farm, something that Cal had to admit that he liked. He had refused to tell Don but he'd been getting annoyed lately with the fact that Don paid so much attention to the other animals on the farm as well. For now he tried to relax and ignore the tight and stuffed feeling he had, it was starting to hurt, a lot. He picked up a book from a shelf he had in there and sat down in his hay pile that served as his bed to read. If there was one thing he knew it was that Don spoiled him with the accommodations he had. He got books, sometimes music, and had his own bathroom in the barn as well. Compared to what he'd read about in regards to the other calves like him he was spoiled rotten by this family.

Alan smiled at Don, eager to learn his responsibilities. "Yes Sir." he said with a nod. "I worked on my family's ranch for most of my life till Pop sold the place. Though I confess I don't have any experience with the hybrids. But I wanna learn, I've missed working on a farm. Missed the animals."

He was anxious to meet this hybrid calf that he'd be working exclusively with. It was an all new experience for him and he was always up for something new. A new challenge. "So... if I'm what you're lookin for, and I sure hope I am, is there anything special I should know about Cal?" he asked after a while. He knew that Don hadn't exactly said he'd gotten the job, but he was eager to get started.

Don was glad to hear that the boy at least had some experience working on a farm although he had to hoped to get something that knew about hybrids he couldn't exactly be too picky at the moment. At the least the kid wanted to learn so he'd just have to teach him all he knew about the animals. Just he wasn't sure really if there was anything in particular that Cal liked, besides getting too many sweets and reading books. The calf was surprisingly very interested to learn new things and Don had tried his best to prevent himself from stopping Cal from learning whatever subject the calf was interested in. This week that subject seemed to be ships, mostly pirate ships.

"Cal's.... special." he said and chuckled a bit. "He's very picky when it comes to his meals and he'll try to get out of eating things he should, so watch out for that. Today he's already had his breakfast, but it's almost fifteen minutes late for his morning snack, I'm sure he's got his nose out of joint for that." He explained. "So how about we go get him his cookies and milk and you can tell me what you do know about hybrids. It'll be up to Cal if you get the job after all, if he doesn't accept you for being his handler then I'll have to try others." With that Don started to lead Alan into the house where he'd show him how to get to Cal's food and what he'd make him for each of his meals.

Alan followed Don into the house. So the calf was temperamental eh he thought. Well he knew how to deal with the bratty ones. "As far as the hybrids go, what I know is basically what we learned briefly in college. Their a mix between human and cow, and their milk is more nutritious. And in some cases better tasting." he said. "I've only ever seen pictures, because the school didn't have the kind of funding it took to bring one in."

He listened intently to everything that Don had to say about taking care of Cal. "I suppose you have a point there." he said. "Another thing I did learn is that they can be more intelligent than your average dairy cow, if it hasn't been bred out of them. So of course it would be his decision whether or not I get the job. No sense paying a man if he can't get the desired results."

Don nodded hearing Alan and opened the door to their house. His wife was currently down doing laundry, he could hear her as he passed by the stairs that lead to the basement. He led Alan out of the porch and into the kitchen. There were two fridges int he kitchen, one was smaller than the other and that was where Don kept the supplies for Cal.

"This is Cal's fridge, you'll find everything you'll need in here for him. There's some milk, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, bread, and any other snacks I think he'll try and like." He explained chuckling a bit since it was hard to find Cal new treats since he was could be such a picky eater sometimes. "You'll be able to make his meals for him with things in this fridge, his cookies and his dishes are in this small cupboard beside it." he explained opening it up to show Alan. "Just make sure anything you use to cut up his meals or anything he eats out of gets washed up and put back." With that he took out the oatmeal cookies they had for Cal as well as a glass and filled it with milk. "Three cookies is his snack, he'll try to get more out of you sometimes but since he gets dessert for supper he doesn't need anymore sweets." He added and handed the items over to Alan. "I'll go introduce you to Cal then you two can try to see if he'll allow you to milk him, the poor boy needs it at this point. Be patient with him today, he's in pain right now so he's more temperamental than usual." he explained as he lead Alan back out of the house and towards the barn.

Alan nodded listening to all he had to say about Cal, and took the plate with the cookies and glass of milk. "So how long has it been since he's been milked?" he asked making mental note of all the things in Cal's supply fridge. Thinking it was best to figure out what the calf liked most and try to work around that he decided to ask Don a few questions. "So what are his favorites among the healthier things?" he asked. He had ideas on how to deal with the picky little one, if he preferred the fruits over the vegetables and so on.

He waited patiently for Don to lead him out to the barn, anxious to meet Cal, and praying the calf approved. If not, he'd be out of a job prospect and searching once again.

Don smiled a bit hearing that Alan was eager to learn about the calf, it was a good sign to have a worker that was willing to learn. "It's been almost a week since he last let me milk him." he explained as they walked out of the house and started to head towards the barn. "As far as feeding him, he'll try to get sweets, like boy or animal would. The vegetables he likes are carrots and snap peas, he loves them, especially if you give him ranch dressing as dip but I try not to spoil him like that too often. Those things are for days when he's been particularly good. Same with chocolate but if you want to give him some it's a small amount, two chocolate chip cookies or a small glass of chocolate milk. Like animals, chocolate doesn't sit well with his stomach so give him too much and you'll have a sick hybrid on your hands and sour milk for a week." he explained as they walked across the rather large lawn to where the bar was.

When they got there, Don opened the door and walked inside. It was empty although there were lots of stalls. The only current resident was Cal who was still reading his book. Sometimes the stalls would have sick or pregnant animals in them but for the time being the horses and cows that Don had were out in the fields. "As for fruit, you'll have no problem getting him to eat that and he can have yogurt as dip every time, yogurt is healthy for the boy." He said then stopped at Cal's stall, the calf still trying to read and ignore the two men.

"How you feeling today?" Don asked.

"Stiff, sore, and like I'm going to burst." Cal said shutting his book with a loud thump.

"Well I have someone here that might be able to help with that. Will you let him try?"

Cal looked Alan up and down as much as he could from where he was sitting. "He's a little short isn't he?" He asked.

"Cal, be nice. This is Alan, at least let him have a look." Don said and with a heavy sigh, Cal nodded.

"Fine, but only because you want me to."

"Give him his snack and he'll behave." Don said and patten Alan's shoulder. "I'll be back, got a horse to look at, holler if you need help."

Alan stepped into the pen smiling softly at Cal as he handed him the plate and the glass of milk. "Nice to meet you Cal." he said sitting down next to him. "So would you mind telling me how this works? How this feels best for you?" he was clearly a little nervous not wanting to upset, or overstep with Cal.

He also wanted Cal to be as comfortable with him as possible. The calf was far more intelligent than people would likely give him credit for and he could hear it in his tone of voice alone.

Cal took the plate from Alan and relaxed in his bed as he ate and drank. This was late, and that annoyed him, a lot. Then again he was just on edge lately since he knew it wasn't good to be so blocked up like this, besides it hurt and that would make anymore upset and cranky.

"The bucket over there." Cal said, pointing to it. "And that stool. Don usually had me sitting in his lap and leaning back against him." he explained as he ate the cookies, his tail giving an annoyed swat at the air. "But be gentle... everything's really starting to hurt right now." he explained and looked down, his stomach looked a little distended from not letting anyone to touch him. Quickly he drank the milk once the cookies were done then set everything aside for the time being. He glared up sharply at Alan and just stared for a while before speaking once again. "Do you have pets?"
